Some rumors: the only ones that I know about for certain are the GPSQuebec.com maps for Quebec (and Ontario is in development). And they only support Garmin, ideally models with autorouting capability.

Just went with the Garmin 76 CSx. Electronic compass, atmospheric altimeter so you can do basic weather forecasting. Ordered a 2GB card to load maps into. Also got the GPS Quebec snowmobile trail maps to load into it. Be interesting to see it all work... :)

If you stay away from the Sherbrooke and St Zenon areas, I think the theft is a lot less. I've ridden most of Mauricie, some of Abitibi / Temascaigne, and also eastern Canton de le Est and western Chaudiere Appalache, as well as motorcycled the Gaspe and others, and not had a theft problem...

I ran these on my VMAX 700. Significantly easier steering, ant the bite wasn't bad. I'd say better than the stock RX ski, but not as much bite as the PowderPros, which are a similar design, but more aggressive and wider. I really liked the SLTs on my VMAX, and the optional 'spoon' that fits...

Spoke to them this morning. They should be done with the 121" soon, and starting with the 136" sometime around Jan 13. At least, that's what the sales guy said... Would have been nice to have had it in this week, I'm planning a decent ride starting the 13th or 14th.

I'm from Lyme, NH. Registered in NH, VT and QC this winter. The VT registration was $115. Makes the QC sticker look like a bargain. Even though it's $175, Quebec has 8 times more trails, better grooming, facilities and maps, and include liability insurance. I'd vote for northern VT...

Just been up, stayed at Motel Safari in Shawinigan Sud. Some good riding once you get outside of Shawinigan, around there it was pretty disastrous with poor signage and poor trail grooming.

My main issue with the PPs is that they are so wide you don't get full coverage out of most tie-down bars. Not a problem on most roads, but when you hit those bad Maine roads, the skis can bend out from under the bars and the sled skip out. Happened to me twice last year, to and from Rangeley...

OK... So maybe there is some hope for my 136"er for sometime in the New Year...

I'm very happy with the PPs. I got a set of Simmonds late last season, to see if they are as great as everybody says, with no darting and flatter cornering. Instead I got push in the corners, especially in sloppy stuff, and heavier steering.

Ripsaw works great on the trails, not that good in the deep. Other upgrades include skis (or at least more / better carbides) and maybe a thicker swaybar, 12 or 13mm. Stiffer front springs not a bad idea either, I went with the Ohlins shocks instead. Taller screen for cold weather, and...

I've ordered a 136". They were saying 3 weeks, which is this coming Friday. From the way they said this though, I'm not expecting anything before early January, as they were first manufacturing the shorties.

New England Bob (Quebec guide) had 30K on his RX before totalling it last winter.
