    Looking for a GPS

Some rumors: the only ones that I know about for certain are the GPSQuebec.com maps for Quebec (and Ontario is in development). And they only support Garmin, ideally models with autorouting capability.

GPS Map with Waypoints in the Shawinigan Area

The one I've been playing with is the snowmobile map from GPSQuebec.com. Most of the trails, pouvouries and so on seem to be there if you display the necessary level of detail and zoom in. Should make a welcome addition to the rides this year: it does autorouting from point to point using...

    EXCELL Exhaust....who has one installed?

??? After a 300+ mile day, my stock exhaust noise bothers me. How the heck do you guys handle it? Just about every trail our club lost in the last few years, the landowners mentioned 'noisy sleds' as a factor. Unfortunately, seemed that most of the guys causing the problem weren't the...

    Looking for a GPS

Just went with the Garmin 76 CSx. Electronic compass, atmospheric altimeter so you can do basic weather forecasting. Ordered a 2GB card to load maps into. Also got the GPS Quebec snowmobile trail maps to load into it. Be interesting to see it all work... :)

    precision skis

I'm running Simmons. I think the Simmons are a little wider / more aggressive, but I could be wrong. For some reason, all the magazines now rate the new Ski Doo skis ahead of the old Precisions. Personally, I think the SLP PowderPros are a better skid for my Warrior than the Simmons. Not...

    NorthEast riders...

I ride in QC every year. Live about 20 miles north of the I89/91 junction, about 3 miles off I91. Not sure about St Zenon, been too much sled and truck theft up there. It is also quite busy during peak times. I normally base out of Shawinigan, and then do overnighters / multi-day trips...

    Bender ReAction Update Week 2

Well, it seems I didn't get the 'letter'.... I'd about given up all hope of getting the Bender (136") this season, so hadn't phoned in a while to check on progress. Had a spare minute yesterday, so phoned them, probably to cancel as the season is about done. Seems they will not be...

    Quebec this Saturday

Pretty common experience in some areas of Quebec if you hang out on the www.trailcondtions.com board for quebec. Somebody tried to force the side door and fuel hatch on my trailer last year standing in a lot, probably trying to see what was inside. Not all of Quebec is that bad, but I...

    Depressing winter for NH

I bought an 800 Sportsman in late December. Was thinking of going to an Attak, glad I got the ATV and kept the Warrior. I've only got 500 miles on, all before New Year in QC. And a few hundred feet around the yard in NH...

    Quebec questions...

If you stay away from the Sherbrooke and St Zenon areas, I think the theft is a lot less. I've ridden most of Mauricie, some of Abitibi / Temascaigne, and also eastern Canton de le Est and western Chaudiere Appalache, as well as motorcycled the Gaspe and others, and not had a theft problem...

    Has anyonr tried SLT skis

I ran these on my VMAX 700. Significantly easier steering, ant the bite wasn't bad. I'd say better than the stock RX ski, but not as much bite as the PowderPros, which are a similar design, but more aggressive and wider. I really liked the SLTs on my VMAX, and the optional 'spoon' that fits...

Bender Mono in your sled yet?????

Spoke to them this morning. They should be done with the 121" soon, and starting with the 136" sometime around Jan 13. At least, that's what the sales guy said... Would have been nice to have had it in this week, I'm planning a decent ride starting the 13th or 14th.

    Vermont Area Ride-in in February

I'm from Lyme, NH. Registered in NH, VT and QC this winter. The VT registration was $115. Makes the QC sticker look like a bargain. Even though it's $175, Quebec has 8 times more trails, better grooming, facilities and maps, and include liability insurance. I'd vote for northern VT...

    Shawinagan Canada Ride

Just been up, stayed at Motel Safari in Shawinigan Sud. Some good riding once you get outside of Shawinigan, around there it was pretty disastrous with poor signage and poor trail grooming.

    SLP Powder pro review

My main issue with the PPs is that they are so wide you don't get full coverage out of most tie-down bars. Not a problem on most roads, but when you hit those bad Maine roads, the skis can bend out from under the bars and the sled skip out. Happened to me twice last year, to and from Rangeley...

    BENDER SKID?

OK... So maybe there is some hope for my 136"er for sometime in the New Year...

    SLP Powder pro review

I'm very happy with the PPs. I got a set of Simmonds late last season, to see if they are as great as everybody says, with no darting and flatter cornering. Instead I got push in the corners, especially in sloppy stuff, and heavier steering.

    Warrior Upgrades

Ripsaw works great on the trails, not that good in the deep. Other upgrades include skis (or at least more / better carbides) and maybe a thicker swaybar, 12 or 13mm. Stiffer front springs not a bad idea either, I went with the Ohlins shocks instead. Taller screen for cold weather, and...

    Bender monoshock

I've ordered a 136". They were saying 3 weeks, which is this coming Friday. From the way they said this though, I'm not expecting anything before early January, as they were first manufacturing the shorties.

How Many Miles On Rx-1 ?

New England Bob (Quebec guide) had 30K on his RX before totalling it last winter.
