Hi guys / Gals,
I've decided to begin this process sooner then later. I haven't talked to Mr. Sled so I'm not sure if we're gonna call this an official TY ride-in or not, but I'm sure he will chime in and let us know one way or another. I'm looking at dates of Feb. 11th or 12th, or Feb. 18th or 19th. These are Sat. and Sun. Here's how I envision this process, as I've not tried to coordinate a ride-in before. I guess I need to compile data on riders location / interest and availability. So, if interested, I need from you: location, availability and a Sat or Sun preference. I'm thinking a meeting time of around 11:00 at a place to eat, chat, then an afternoon ride. This time would give people on the outskirts daylight riding to get to and from the ride-in. I have no personal preference of location. I'm in Northern VT, but I plan on taking everyone's locations, sticking them on a map, picking a point in the middle and who ever lives closest to that location could find us a meeting place / riding route based on their knowledge of the area. Some NH guys have already shown interest too so we might meet along the border??? If some NY guys also wanna do it, maybe central VT is the way to go. Seems fair to pick a point in the middle and go from there. Any other suggestions would be welcome. Feel free to PM me or call if you don't want to post your location here. My home phone is (802)888-6670, Steve. Feel free to call nights before 9:00. Let's get 'r DONE!!!

Follow this link. Looks pricey :~(. I didn't give that a thought. I don't see anywhere on the VAST website if there is a 1 day or multiple day pass. Anyone from VT know if other state's riders can purchase a temporary VT TMA?? Wouldn't make sense to drop $100.00 for one ride, unless you plan on riding in VT all winter. Hmm....

I'm from Lyme, NH. Registered in NH, VT and QC this winter.
The VT registration was $115. Makes the QC sticker look like a bargain. Even though it's $175, Quebec has 8 times more trails, better grooming, facilities and maps, and include liability insurance.
I'd vote for northern VT, maybe the NEK, as my GF lives in Lyndonville. Easy access from I-91 for folks who are trailering up wouldn't be a bad consideration.
I can maybe do the first date mentioned if I'm not riding in QC, the second date I'll be in the Bahamas on a company bash.

VAST does not offer a 1 day pass. It's all or nothing. If you are a non-resident you first must register in your home state, then buy a VT TMA (Trail Maintainance Assessment) sticker costing $115.00.

I grew up in the NEK
I would recomend the Pub out Back as it is right on the trails and only about 10 minutes from I91.
Just a thought.

There is also manditory ins needed in VT, hope this info helps.
To ride the more than 4,600 mile Vermont Statewide Snowmobile Trails System, your snowmobile(s) must:
• Be legally registered in Vermont or any other state or province. VAST recognizes all valid state and provincial registrations. If your sled(s) is already registered in your home state or province, then you do not need to re-register in Vermont. The cost to register a snowmobile in Vermont is $15 for a resident, $22 for a non-resident and $2 to transfer a registration if your machine has been sold or traded-in. The registration is valid from September 1 to August 31. < DMV / Registration Agents>
• Properly display a VAST TMA (Trail Maintenance Assessment/ Trail Pass) decal, this is your permission to operate your snowmobile(s) on private land in Vermont. TMA decals can only be purchased from a local snowmobile club’s membership chairperson, a local business that has been contracted to sell TMAs for the club or online at club websites. The set cost of a Resident TMA for the 2004-2005 season, per sled, is $65 and with club dues it can average $70-85; the set fee for a Non-resident TMA is $95 and with club dues can average $100-110. <VAST Clubs>
In addition, the following regulations also apply to operating a snowmobile in Vermont:
• Effective September 1, 2003 - all individuals operating a snowmobile, in Vermont on the statewide snowmobile trails system, shall have a liability insurance policy or bond in the amounts of at least $25,000 for one person and $50,000 for two or more persons killed or injured and $10,000 for damages to property in any one accident. In lieu thereof, evidence of self-insurance in the amount of $115,000 must be filed with the commissioner. You must carry proof of insurance and show it upon demand.
If I can swing the date, I would def. like to make the trip.

I'll be there. Already have a VAST sticker, might as well get some use out of it.

It would interest me if VT didn't kill us with the reg. costs (not to mention the mandatory ins.) I'll stick to NH and Maine. Last I knew, Maine was only $55 for the season for out of state riders. Last time I registered in VT it was around $85 and I only rode there 1 day.

Yeah I would have to agree, I am all for a get together ride, but if it's going to cost me $120 for a registration, then I am not really interested in going to VT.
