02 readings at lower rpm's

At the recommendation of some of you guys I re-routed my air filter through my hood where it gets lots of fresh air. Also opened the middle to let lots of snow get on the IC. Ran on Mt Baker today in 2' - 3' of fresh baseless powder and it ran great, lots of power, but am curious about my low rpm 02 ratios.

I am idling around 15.9 on my 02 sensor, dropping to aroud 13.4 at 6000 rpm, and couldn't get a good read on WOT cause it was pretty technical cutting trail (and the snow was coming over the hood) but the few times I hit it on the trail I saw it drop to about 11. I really couldn't hold it on long enough at WOT to get a good reading and only running 8 psi today so I'm not too worried about the top end. I was wondering if it is OK that I am running so lean in the lower range. Is it ok?

It sure picks up quick on the low end and has 0 lag and feels great.

Also, I did set my float bowls past Yamaha specs but I did get the sled on its side today and it flooded. Would it reduce the flooding to lower the floats even more? How low have you guys dropped them?

Thanks

I have my floats at about 17mm if I remember right, but it still will flood if you put it on its side or top, I don,t think you can get rid of it completely. its just not as bad, mine still floods if I chop the throttle or come down hard over the top of a cornice, on high boost, I know to just waite a few minutes befor starting it. If I can keep feathering the throttle I can keep it running but sometimes thats no so easy.

Trxter, I replied to your thread about this on the SW site. I forgot when I told you about the neg. exhaust pulses that this was the answer given to me by Mac @ MPI when I called them asking this very same question.

Had the sled up today in the sun (at times) in about 4' of fresh piled up over the windshield. Finally got to hit some meadows and give it WOT and the AFR dropped to about 11.8 at WOT. That seems good as I was only at about 3200 ft and 8psi and usually ride at 5000 ft and would like to be able to turn up the boost to 10-12 so hopefully the added boost would offset the added richness of gaining elevation and stay around 11.8.

I also noticed that in the deep (bottomless) powder the rpm's would bounce off the 11k line and then steady out around 10,700 rpm's. Should I try to weld on more weight or does that seem ok?

Ihave the same problem with o2 gauge. Hard too read at wot. Iam running 10lbs at about 6000-8000ft. 12.25 was the max I was told to run. Inotice numbers in the 15s. sometimes it runs in the peramiters sometimes its way out of the ballpark. please let me know if youfigure anything oout. 06Apex
