I am having a major issue with too much fuel in two of the carbs. While running, fuel poors out the front of two of the carbs(two linked together) and out the overflow hose. I tried soaking the bowls with Carb instant gum cutter overnight, then drained it, and put it back together. Same thing is still happening. Could it be something other than crud either on or near the float? I want to know if there is something else that could cause this before I take the carbs off to remove the bowls or if anyone has had this issue.

Had the same thing to mine, when i pulled the sled out of storage. The float was sticking on the carbs causing them to over fill and pour out. I ended up pulling the carbs off and cleaning them. Rxrider's build thread has good pics of them apart.

Time to pull them and clean them, possibly not stored properly. Gasoline has no shelf life, if no stabil used it will evaporate and leave dry flakes. Then you start cranking/pumping fuel to carb then suck that flake into passage or in needle/seat and all hell breaks loose. Save yourself some time and pull them and clean them.

I did fog the motor and always put stabil in the fuel. Problem I am finding is the stabil does not withstand the degrading elements of the ethanol. I have read alot of articles recently and they are saying the only additive that works is Star-Tron(which I bought yesterday). Regardless, I did remove the bowls and cleaned them out and it is working fine now. What a nightmare getting to the screws for the bowls, you have to take the entire chain of carbs off just to get to the back screws.

You might want to consider replacing the screws with Allen head bolts. Then you can get them off easy. Just flip up the rack and turn them out. But, ... for the first time, you want to pull the carbs right off. I ended up using a nut driver with an extended bit to get the Phillips heads off, the first time.

If you can, simply start and run your sled once a month for 5 minutes or so, it sure saves alot of hassle later. Then on your first ride run a container of sea foam or fuel system/carb cleaner in a full tank of gas. It's that simple, an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure or time and money. If you can't run your sled once a month, then drain each carb when you store the sled.

If you run it every month or so, you may want to consider ensuring it comes up to operating temperature. This will refresh the seals and drive off the moisture in the oil, etc. It also makes sure the spark plugs will not be fowling about the third or fourth time you start it while in storage.

Right on!
Fuel stabilizer does help, but it won't keep gas from evaporating, you should be draining the carb's every time you put it away. Also I don't believe in fixes in a can like sea foam.... try soaking a dirty carb/gummed piolet jet in it, it does little. What I do like for off the shelf products is Yamaha combustion chamber cleaner in the aerosol can. I usualy tear the carb down, and soak the clogged jets ect ect in the carb float bowl(ie fill it up), this cleans out the bowl and the jet's at the same time, blow off/out with compressed air and its nearly like new.
I have been doing a little work on quad's ect this spring and had allot of stuck needles, but everything else was cleanish, but last year I had allot of green/brown carb's... but not many needles stuck.
I'm picking up a 2004 rx warrior this weekend, this is my first sled that I will have owned. I wanted a newer phazer but I am 6'3" and 240lbs and it just doesn't have quite enough power. I'ts definatley going to be easyer to remove and adjust the carbs and valves complared to the r1/r6 by the looks of it.

Had the exact same thing happen to me just the other day on a warrior. Thought for sure i was going to need new needle and seat assy's at $40 ea but was releaved to see that the needle was just lightly wedge in the seat on the 2 that were flooding over by a very small layer of varnish. And it was just on the side of the needle, not the rubber tip . The needle has 4 raised ridges around it to keep it centered in the bore of the brass seat . it's a close fit and a little varnish was all it took to keep them from closing . The bowls of the carbs were clean !
Take the carbs off, flip upside down and take off the 4 screws on the bowls with a GOOD philips screwdriver. Remove the bowls and manual move the floats up and down. The needle is clipped to the float and should move with it. If not, take out the philips screw that holds the float pin in and lift the float up and out with the needle attached and look for the varnish on the sides of it.
good luck.
