Hi. Great site. I'm new here and it appears i didn't store my rx1 properly. i didn't use stabilizer for my gas cause i drained most of it and ran it perodically until it was out of gas. put some gas in it recently and would only run on full, half choke. i added some seafoam in the gas and ran it for bout 5 mins and shut it down(no change). Looks like i need to clean the carbs or is there some other way around it? All suggestions would be helpful. How hard is it to clean them? If anyone has instructions that would be great. thx in advance

This is a link to the TY tech pages click on the engine and you'll see a link to an ECP kit install shows how to pull the carbs off real easy. Your problem is more than likely the pilot jets pull them out and run a real fine wire through them, then reinstall and you'll be good to go. I just take off the airbox loosen the four screws holding the carbs on, then flip upside down with a towel under them to catch excess gas and any screws ya drop : ) Pull the bowls and take out the pilot jets takes about 30 mins once you've done it a couple of times.

Yeah theres no easy way around it and I have put sta-bil in mine every year and still have had to do it several times on both my 03 and 05. Its about an hour or 2 at the most and not complicated.

At least you can get at the carbs on these without having to tear down half the machine. Like the new body style of the Apex.

But if you get one of those don't try to pull the carbs :jump:

thanks for help. you guys make it sound so easy. Im sure once I get my hands dirty, I'll know what u guys are taking about lol . Well at least i knew what the problem was, thanks to this site.
I fired it up again and was running alittle better. still had about 1/4 choke on. had to feather the throttle to keep running.
thanks again

Try picking up the rear of the sled to get the track in the air...Then blast the throttle a few times. That sometimes will "clear up" the problem. Running SeaFoam helps as you mentioned. I'm surprised it didn't work...

Try getting the track off the ground and hammering the throttle...Let us know how you make out!

will do. thats how i got down to 1/4 of choke. lifted it and gave it some gas(maybe 25 km on the speedo). not too much though. i didn't want it going through the garage. i'll give it more next time. thanks.

Good luck with the shaking.....
My sled only sat for a month and I could not see thru the pilot jets. They were clogged with crud from the gas.
I had to use a torch tip cleaner to get the stuff out. That was after soaking for an hour in gum cutter.

The other thing I noticed is the ethonol in the gas is doing a job on the
O-rings on the main jets. The ones that sit in the bottom of the float bowls. They were in bad shape.
