I purchased an 03 RX1 and in the process of changing the plugs I noticed that one of the connectors to the coil is broken (the locking tab). I stopped by the Yami dealer near my home an wanted to buy a new connector. I was told that I could not buy just the connector, the dealer stated that a new harness for $295 was needed. I checked on the yami motor site and all that is shown is the harness. I can't believe that a connector is not sold seprately!! I was able to remove the connector from the wire harness. Is there a part number for that connector?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

connector

try ford as they use the same ones on some of there coils. on there 4.6 5.4 in there pick up,s . if all else fail,s just go to salvage lot and cut one out of a f 150-250. ;)!

It's avail from Yamaha, but it's not a sled part. The Yamaha part # is 9E4-71023-05-00, I think it's from an outboard.

type787x,
I checked with a local dealer and he stated that part number is not coming up at all. Later, I called Waldochs sports and he says the number is correct. The cost for part # 9E4-71023-05-00 is $49.95 a piece.

I will go and get an old Ford connector at a salvage yard.

If you can't get 1 from the recycle yard, go to your local Ford dealer or Motorcraft retailer and get part # 3U2Z-14S411-SLA or Motorcraft # WPT-759. They retail for $27.36 each, I sell them them at our Ford dealership for $23.38.

I looked the connector # for a 2004 F-150, 5.4 engine. WPT-759. I have not tried the connector to the Yamaha coil, but it sure looks the same.

coils

i will try some ford coils as sosn as i can get my hands on a set. i like the coil spring set up for the plug contact better as it will not were at the top of the plug or lose tension and lose contact. as long as they can hold up they should work. and then no more light show.

I don't think Ford coils will work, maybe DG-500 or DG-511. They both use a seperate bolt to hold them in place. Plus if you purchase Yamaha coils from Port Yamaha, they give a real good discount. The connectors are what someone is having problems with.

Ford connector WPT-579 worked perfectly. The Yamaha connector cost $49 plus tax. The Yamaha dealer in Monticello, Minnesota wanted to sell me the whole harness for $298. The Ford connector WPT-579 was $16.32 out the door (my discount helped lower the price). Normally the WPT-579 connector cost $23 plus tax.

Sorry snowbound, didn't know it was that expensive or I never would have mentioned it. Good luck
