I BOUGHT AN 03 RX1 THAT WAS WARRIORIZED LAST SPRING, I SINCE THEN INSTALLED THE ECP KIT WITH EVAP AND JETTED TO 165 AND 2.5 ON THE AIR SCREWS. MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN FIRST STARTED I APPLY THE CHOKE AND IT STARTS BUT WILL NOT RUN WITH CHOKE ON AT ALL AND WHEN I SHUT THE CHOKE OFF IT WILL ALSO STALL BUT IF I FEATHER THE GAS IT WILL STAY RUNNING. IT IDLES REAL LOW UNTIL IT
WARMS UP THEN IT WILL IDLE AT 1500 WHERE I HAVE IT SET TO IDLE.
NOW MY BUDDIES 03 RX1 WILL START WITH CHOKE AND WHEN IT STARTS TO GET WARM THE IDLE RISES AND HE THEN CAN SHUT OFF THE CHOKE AND IT IDLES PROPERLY. MINE DOES NOT DO THIS. I CLEANED MY CARBS AND RESINKED AND EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD. IS THERE SOMETHING I AM OVER LOOKING OR WRONG HERE? ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. THANKS SCOTT| :o| :o| :o|

RX1 NOT RUNNING PROPERLY

OK, MAYBE MY BUDDIES IS NOT RIGHT. I KNOW THAT MY 2000 R6 WOULD START WITH THE CHOKE AND WHEN GOT WARMED THE IDLE WOULD GO UP AND YOU WOULD SLOWLY SHUT THE CHOKE OFF UNTIL
WOULD IDLE WITHOUT CHOKE. AND THAT IS HOW MY BUDDIES 03 RX1
WORKS AS WELL. NOT SAYING YOU ARE NOT RIGHT. :o| :o| :o|

You have the text in caps, thats yellin...LOL

I can tell you that your 03 has dirty pilots or plugged pilots ;)!

OH YA, I DO HAVE THEM IN CAPS LOCK. HOW STUPID OF ME. I ALWAYS FORGET TO TAKE THE CAPS LOCK OFF.

I'm surprised you were able to login :tg: j/k

I think Tom is right. I had same issue last year, with a little added flames shooting out the rear end lol but cleaned em up and now is gone.

Remove ALL the jets along with the needle for the needle and seat. Try to look through them and see if anything is plugged. If they are use carburetor cleaner and compressed air to clean them. Clean the carb bodies as well. When you are all done and like my install instructions for the air kit say, make sure you synchronize the carbs. This is very, very important.

Good luck,

RX1 IDLE PROBLEM

THANKS SUPERTUNER, I WILL TEAR IT APART THIS WEEKEND, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO RAIN ALL WEEKEND ANYWAY SO I WILL NOT BE BOW HUNTING.

Too bad you didn't clean the jets when you had it apart to change the main ones for the ECP kit. I think these guys are right. Sounds similar to the problem I have or had, only mine should up more as a bog when I’d smack the throttle on the line (asphalt racing) and couldn’t even do a proper burn out. At the same time the idle was rough and it didn’t start as crisp as it used to, but I guess I overlooked that because it was gradual and it’s a little hard to tell in the summer. Mine did idle, but quite rough. I had also done some clutch changes to test and blamed the bog on that, until I went back to my original clutching and realized that had nothing to do with it, or at least was not the major factor.
Last night I yanked the bowls off and all the jets, and found that the pilot jets were the worst. The power jets were a little gummed up too. After cleaning them all up and getting the thing back together, it started as soon as the fuel got to the cylinders and ran great. I’ll be testing for the bog tonight. The main jets weren’t bad as they are not the factory ones, and nothing was apparent WOT, but I cleaned them anyway. The other two had never been cleaned, gee I wonder how well it will run now!!!

Can't believe it, bog is still there, idles a little better maybe. Don't know what else to check, siphoned gas out of tank and put fresh fuel in, will have to test it out with that, and go back to searching threads I guess.

sxviperfan, did you get your problem resolved?
