03 viper vs 14 viper performance

I love how the term "bullet proof" gets thrown around. New Viper owners wont get to use that one anymore.
Why???

Oh wait " I know the SR Viper is going to be bullet proof " ;)!

LOL! I love it when Google mechanics entertain us with there knowledge. The Original Viper had head flow issues that could be resolved using the Bender head gasket. Even at that the girlfriend overheated hers (burned it down first time going slow with stock head gasket). The solution at that time was get her a Nytro as you can't hurt those unless you run them on there side. My point here is that the Nytro engine on a tested 3 year Cat suspension is going to be more reliable than the original Viper.

Or you can just spout "no it's not!" cause you said so :-o

Well I still have my 03 viper, has close to 20,000 km on it now and has never been apart. Only mods are a roller secondary, vforce reeds, a monoshock from an 09 apex and that's it. My dad rode it with me when I was riding my 09 nytro last season. Nytro wouldn't touch my old viper no matter what the conditions were and he has a few pounds on me. Switched sleds, didn't make any difference. Nytro is 136'd with K&N's and a fuel controller.

My old man says he's getting himself a new viper so if he does, I'll bring out the old iron and see how they compare. But he mentioned making the old viper a 136 cause he loves it. Same reason why I never sold it, couldn't beat the performance of that sled. He still has an 02 SRX as well.

Thats not a stock Viper anymore. Just saying. My SRX was very reliable also with Wiring harness reroute do to it being crushed under engine when the thing must have had bellypan crushed by a impact. W arm also was welded more times than I remember. That and relocated wheels which ended slider wear were only "needed" mods. I added revalved Viper shocks and the front Ohlins to it for some added suspension.Aaen pipes and roller secondary along with many tracks and studs to try and hook it up were almost a necessity. The SRX was a BLAST in the perfect conditions but it was rare and even though I missed the power my Phazer was fun almost all the time and most of all even at 45 years old I always felt like riding Phazer more when a big mile weekend was over. The SRX even when 25 years old and in great shape I missed work on occasion Monday because it beat me to death. Is there a place in my heart for my old SRX? YES but I have moved on and dont regret it especially if my new Viper satisfies the need for speed anywhere close to what the SRX did. I sold my SRX two days ago so it better!

It may not be "stock" but either is the Nytro. Fact is they are both in the 125-130 hp range (being generous for the viper) and the viper handles better, rides better (with the monoshock) and absolutely kills my nytro on fuel mileage. I know the viper is 10 gallons but I can get 240km to a tank on it, my nytro 180 at best. Facts are facts, going backwards in technology here... fuel injected sled should get better mileage. Reeds don't make that much of a difference and either does a roller secondary. I could unbolt it off my viper and and install it on my nytro to prove that.

Better mileage? I think you mean fuel range...stay away from the crack bro...

I said 180 at best which would be 17mpg, if I ride it hard I'm lucky to get 150km to a tank, which would put both of them at about 14mpg. It's okay though I probably put more miles on my sled last year then you have in your life. Seeing that you have owned 2 cats in your life, two sleds that couldn't get out of their own way you must know what fast is all about.

I don't know anything about sleds though, and yea all of us Canadians are on crack... I'm not your "bro" either.

I can't comment until the 14 vipers come out, but there is no way an fx nytro will outperform and old viper. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, crack influenced or not.

Where did you get the "all of us Canadians are on crack" thing. Neither one of the sleds turned out to be real relevant.....

you are going to have a hard time convincing a majority of the people on here that your old viper can spank a nytro. I have had both and can tell you the old viper has no chance against my xtx. top speed across the lake yea but try and keep that old twosmoke to the bar for a few minutes then see who is at the end of the lake at the end of the race. drag race, corner to corner, ruff trail... forget about it.
better range because it has a 3 gallon bigger tank. better gas mileage no. unless you have special carbs that no one knows about.

btw I've had some old cats that are still around that have 10k plus MILES on them that have never have been broke open to inspect the engine... still have one of them, 1992 lynx its my trapline caddie... its not a speed demon but it rolled over 10k last year now has 11044 miles on it. saying arctic cats are not that reliable is about as true as, well, a old viper beating a new nytro or a new viper....

I truely hope my nytro doesn't sell before the snow falls just to I can take it out and feed it a tail light all day long. Maybe its because my Nytro doesn't have "too many mods for me to list" that makes it the overweight, poor handling turtle of a sled it is.

If you can find an 02-04 viper in a crate still, I'll go buy one. Then you can go get a stock Nytro, set it up however you want and we'll go riding. I'll truck it all the way to Alaska. Heck, if there is enough snow I'll ride it there. It'll have about 7000 km on it by the time I get there, and I'll bet it will still out perform a nytro.

I just sold my 02 viper with just over 10,000 miles on it to get the new viper. That 02 was absolutely bullet-proof. Team clutch and a bender can. she will be missed.

What dealer did you spring order yours from?

Sportline powersports out of Queensbury NY, $11,300 out the door

dont have to truck one here, there are 2 here in my small town, and I ride with at least one of them at least once a week, they are not "still in the crate" but they are cherry... come on out. Ive got a buddy with a stock nytro, and a viper on the way... pm me with dates and times you will be here and we can ride whenever/where ever you would like. better look at a map and find out prices to get to dillingham, and price of fuel before you budget for the trip. don't worry about housing tho. if you win you can stay in my guest room, and if you loose you can stay in my dog house.

what site am I on again? #$%&* this isnt hcs...

Premium is 98 cents per litre in anchorage, $1.28 per litre for regular here. Looks like I can stay in the taj mahal with all the savings in fuel alone.

i dont live in anchorage, 320 air miles from there. that would be 1.76 per litre for maybe 87 octane if your lucky. $600 round trip just to get from anchorage to here. come on out, we could do the bush alaska shootout! got every type of terrain you could think of mountains, loooooong lake beds, tree riding, nice trails, and rough trails. see you here? offer stands...

oh yea, the next best gas is avgas at 2.38 a liter.
