2014 sr viper
Hello all finally got a chance to stretch the legs on my wifes new 2014 sr viper rtx 129. Love the sled but she kept complaining about all of the dartiness on the trail. Is there anything that you all are doing to help with this issue and if so what are you doing?

Thanks for your input!

My wifes Zr 7000 had the same exact concern, the fix was Ski-Doo pilot skis. She loves her sled now.

There are a number of ways to reduce darting. First check the ski alignment. There should be some toe out. Then you can start taking some weight off the skis. You can do this by reducing the preload on the ski shocks or by adding preload to the center shock or by reducing preload on the rear torsion springs. Typically it's a combination of all three. The problem here is that you will start to lose steering effectiveness and the center of gravity can get higher. Then you can get more weight on the rear of the skis by placing shims under the rear of the rubber ski bumpers. If you are running a lot of carbide (more than 7 inches) you can also remove some carbide from the front of the wear bar. But this takes a special grinding wheel.

Here's my wife's set up she weighs about 140 dressed with helmet and boots
rear torsion springs on softest setting
transfer blocks at #2
center shock loosened (about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thread showing)
limiter strap up 1 hole from stock
Fox floats set at 90psi
6" woodie's slim jim carbides
She say that her sled is set up perfectly 0 darting very minimal push
Not sure what your wife has for carbides but that would be something to look into for sure

Toss on a set of Slim Jim Dually Carbides from Woodys.. and she will never complain again.

I agree, I tried tuners on my 14 RTX and hated it. Ended up throwing on a pair of Slim Jim Dooly carbides on the stock skis and it steers great with very minimal to no darting. I do agree though, ski alignment is huge. Needs to be toed out around 1/4".

I have went down this road many many times.. ski alignment and set up is crucial but all sleds will dart in the right conditions. For me slim jims was my cure all. I dont have to have the sleds set perfect and I can change drivers with many different weights and ages and anyone can ride my sleds.

We have the Pilots on her Skidoo and they tend to push plus a little bit darty. I put a set of the aggressive Snow Trackers on and initial impressions are awesome.

I have them on my sled also they rock!!!! I've been trying to convince my wife to switch from her slims to the trackers but she is happy with her set up! (she doesn't ride as aggressive as I do)
