Ok I think I found my sled. I am going to look at an 04 RX Warrior tommorrow. Heres the details:

1,600 miles
Only after market item is a set of Simmons Ski's

No damage history and the sled is "Mint." SO the dealer says.

Asking price is $5,500. Seems like a good deal. KBB has the retail value at $6,730. What do you guys think? Comments on the sled? Value? Anything I need to do right away to the sled?

Thanks!

I am looking to get back into snowmobiling after being out of it for 20 some years. The last sled I drove was a mid 70's Ski-Doo 400 free air. It was a lot of fun but mind you I was 8 years old at the time. Anyway, I have been wanting to get back into the sport for a while. I need a sled that I am going to be primarly hitting the trails in Northern Wiscosin and the U.P. I also would like to have the option of being able to adjust my sitting position some. I am 6' 2" 240 and I dont plan on ridding forward all the time. Also it needs to have enough seat room that I can let my 6 year old boy jump on sometimes as well.

A couple things to check.

The rear shock is not rebuildable and has a limited lifetime, depending on how those 1600 miles were ridden it may be fine or may need to be replaced. There are replacement versions that are rebuildable.

Also check the rear skid for bad bearings and the W arm for cracks.

Now to riding impressions. The Warrior is a good trail cruiser. With the suspension and shocks in good working order and setup properly for your particular weight it will handle groomed to fairly rough trails with ease. I found coming from a 2003 ZR900 that the Warrior takes a good amount more manhandling as trail speed increases. IMO it is not an aggressive, rail around the corners type of machine hence the term "trail cruiser" as I called it above. I have learned to adapt my riding style to work with the differences of the Warrior as compared to my previous sleds. This is no way a put down on the sled just my thoughts. I love mine and put 2300 miles on it last year, the most miles I have ever ridden in one season. Very comfy for high mileage riding.

So if you want an aggressive ride then maybe you should look elsewhere, but if you are a cruiser then it will be a great fit.

I'm a very aggresive rider and my 2004 warrior performs very well the only time it makes me work is when it is very tight and twisty .Like lock to lock kind of corners. Most trails in the U.P. aren't that tight. All in all it is a very good sled for any kind of rider. It will do what you want and do it well.Good Luck. :yam:

If most of your riding is trails / groomed or otherwise / buy the sled / you'll love it / my wife and I each have one and are in our 60's, we ride 2500 to 3500 miles per year and enjoy every mile / just buy it and ride, ride, ride / later / jim-bob

You wont be disapointed.. IT is a great sled. I had two of them..

Get some C@A pro skis and 8 inch carbides! adjust the rear weight transfer rods to minimum transfer, and let her rip...

Brian, he already has good ski's with those Simmons :ORC

Just gas and go IFlyEm, you'll love it ;)!

I got an 04 Warrior with 5700 Miles of Quebec trail miles on it, every type of riding, and it's been a very good sled! I plan on keeping it for a while and to continue enjoying it.
This year when I did a pre season maintenance I found the W-Arm cracked at some of the welds, I welded it myself, shocks are still good, changed some wheel bearings and a set of Hi Fax, original drive belt is still good. Really holding up well, no complaints here!
