I was buying sliders for my 04 RX1 today. Yamaha dealer was telling me that the sliders for the 05-06 will fit on the 04. I took a look at the two and it appears that the rail size is the same the only difference that I see is that the 05 sliders are wider at the bottom. Question. Will they fit on an 04. If they will how do you get the wider slider through the track window. The 04 is already tough to get through the window. Thanks.

I've been hearing things about possibly having to remove the suspension to change those sliders.
I was told that you can take a dremel and make one window a little wider. Not crazy about that.

They won't fit through a window. I had to pull the skid. You could cut the window like you said but it's not worth it IMO.

Thanks NY Warrior. I was thinking of buying them cus they may last a little longer but not worth it if I can't get it through the window. I will change the annoying avatar when I get a chance.

The 05 wider sliders are no way better than the 04 were. Don't mess with that, it will be just more complicated for you to replace them. No gain
As for removing the 05 wider slides, I had enlarged with a sharp knife a pair of holes and it work great, no need to remove to whole skid each time...

Better, yes.
That other guy was more distracting than annoying, sort of hypnotic.

The old narrow hyfax and the new wider hyfax fit both rails. However, I was thinking of going the other way around and use the narrow stuff on my Vector as it would let some snow through by not fully covering the windows. I bought some narrow graphite hyfax, but ended up putting them on my wife's Phazer as my stock ones are still in great shape after 1000 miles.

I have changed '05 slides without enlarging the windows, silicone lube is needed but it can be done.

I'll be sure to at least try it when it comes time. I'll probably try the narrower graphite replacements when I get the stock ones out.
