05 MONOSHOCK SUSPENSION-- NO ZIRKS ??

Maybe I'm just anal, but I've always added zirks to my sleds that didn't come with them, and I grease them several times during the season.
Usually, when I do, water is expelled, and it makes me want to keep greasing them. Bad memories of aluminum shafts seized solid in steel cross-tubes continue to haunt me.

Do I need a life?

(BTW- I am NOT anal............I'm anal retentive.)

zirks not found

INFO in SNOWTECH MAG. NOV 2004. page 114 righ side just before the middle of the page. Yam exclusive , needle bearings for sticktion free susp. action. good luck! :yam:

Doesn't surprise me. It would be easier for Yamaha to say that the skid was not properly maintained so they're not going to cover the damage. Especially since the owner drilled holes in it to install zerks. :moon:

Looks like the M-10 (12) edged-out waiting for a Mono afterall. I was and still am skeptical about using the mono skid in my RX-1. Now I know I NEED an M series from FAST.

:rocks:

That's what I've heard (except the failures). Still, it's got to be better than stock Pro-Action. Besides, what's a couple MPH on Top-end if you're rewarded with a comfortable ride on trashed trails. I know there have been many times I could've cared less about the RX-1's power, and speed. Especially on a trashed trail.

I'll probably post a thread on the Expert-X to get opinions from those who have it as well.

No need, M-10 appears to ride better in the junk. There are also some mods that can be done if need be.

I really hate my RX-1 for not being able to handle the rough-stuff. I can't even imagine it with an M-10. I just look at the thing and start swearing at it. That's why I decided to entertain any offers for it. That, and there's no snow yet.

I will probably nix the idea, once the snow flies. I wouldn't get enough dough for it anyway, to be able to justify it until it was paid off. But still, that fiasco with the Pro-Action ruined my overall perception of the RX-1 as an "ultimate performance" snowmobile.

I had an M10 in my 03 its was unreal how it ate the moguls...but have since sold it and cant wait to ride the monoshock......

I spent some time comparing the two, biggest downfall on the X-PERT X was a TOTAL lack of ability to get a hold of or reply from anyone at Boivin. They have a total lack of understanding of customer service, no parts listing tell you to go to Skidoo dealer etc.etc.etc.

Went with M10, lose a mile or two fine but at least they have a functioning website and phones.

I have to wonder how needle bearings will hold up. Traditionally they fail miserably when exposed to moisture. The needles rust stick together and eventually sieze. Although different my ATV Superwinch had a needle bearing. Once it got moisture in it the bearing would fail. After replacing it twice I had a bronze bushing made to replace it. Works great. I wouldn't suggest a Bronze bushing for suspension but again these needles will hold up to the abuse suspensions endure. If it could be lubricated it would be great.

I started this thread a little over a year ago, and was wondering what the final consensus was ???? Was it a design flaw, and how did those who rode these sleds last season make out ??? ANY SERIOUS SUSPENSION ISSUES ????

I just took mine apart with 1200 miles on it. The aluminum shafts on the top of the H/W Arm were beginning to show wear. I am changing them to steel like '06 has. The grease was pretty well dried up, but when I reassemble it I am going to grease it up and take it apart again next year. No problems for me.
