Hey All -
A relative has an '05 Rage. She hit a tree at low speed today and broke the aluminum mount where the arm meets the chasis (the hole where the a-arm meets the chasis is what broke).
How big of a job will this be to fix? We haven't torn it apart yet.. Sort of fretting it at the moment. Can we weld it back on with the help of a skilled alum welder or do we have to replace the front bulkhead (if its replaceable). Has this happened to anyone else?
Shocked it broke.. it was a low speed hit. (5km/h).
Thx!

I would find a good welder and get him to look at it . i don't know what they use it could be an aloy that can't be welded . he would also tell you if he can weld it on the sled or not . I would take off what ever plastic to be able to see it good and trailer it to the welding shop . They will tell you if they can fix it or not . If it can't be welded you have to replace the front frame that is a big job .

Half the bulkhead on my apex was almost $300.00 at Yamaha but prob way more now due to an increase in prices. Seen some cheap bulkheads on eBay for less than $50.00 all you need is the rivets and a couple more odds and ends and your set. The biggest thing is taking it apart and putting it all together but if you can do it, it will save you almost 6 hours of labor accrding to our local shop

Hey Guys -
Just an update. Took it to a local TIG welder who said he could do it no problem (he's across the street from a Yammie dealer and said he's done many before).
$60 cash and 2 hours later and you can tell the eyelet was ever ripped out!

I did this very same thing last year...hit a washout and snapped the mount hole. Fortunately i had insurance and had the job done at the dealer...it was a $1400 job, but i had both halves of the front bulkhead replaced. and a new a arm and bushings. I still have the old left half of the bulkhead in my garage. The halves are $300 a pc. I had thought of welding it...but with all the abuse the front suspension takes...i was wary. Hope he did the job up good for ya!
