Mine only uses oil when it has been dumped on its side. I have never had it use oil in 2000 miles. Maxdlx

that's quite a bit,i usually ride 5000 to 6000 km a season and go thru 1 to 2 litres, you might want to try seafoam or ringfree, could help some

NO it isn't...you should use at most 500ml (can vary) between oil changes (4000kms)
Is this a sled you broke in yourself? or did you buy 2nd hand, I bought a '05 brand new and broke it in by the book and hardly used oil, I'd use more at high rpm 'cause of vaporising, other than that it was great, I also have a buddy who has a '05 bought new and broke in by the book and he's the same uses very little of oil...my '08 has 5000kms and only used 150ml so far...I drive a lot of high speeds (high rpm's) I only use YAMAHA 0W-30 oil and change my filter at every oil change YAM reccomends changing it at every 20.000kms (filter), that like taking your bath in someones else dirty water.

It used 200ml for 335 kms of hard riding the other day. Went out today & oil level went from Full mark to half way between F mark & E mark for 285 kms
Their is a little oil residue in air box.
I bought it brand new & broke it in by the book. I use Amsoil 0w30

Make sure when checking your oil that sled was atleast ridden for 15min, I always check mine after every ride this way its good and hot, I let it sit for 2 or 3 min and check it...your readings will vary a lot depending on how you check it, always do it the same way to get an accurate reading.
200ml in 335kms sound like a lot to me...those your sled stay out in the cold when not in use, if so check your CRANKCASE breather hose in your airbox to see if its FROZEN up, they tend to freeze up and clog with ice and this creates back pressure in your motor and will get it to use or leak oil on the PTO/CLUTCH seal.
