My son has a 03 F7 sno pro and I have a 03 rx1 shorty. Stock he beats me 5 or 6 sled lengths. I then clutched, ecp kit, gear down 2 teeth and put a decent track on it. We then clutched and piped the f7. Now I'm haven no problem start to finish really close race to 100mph then it's all mine and I'm 100 lbs heaver then him. Them 03 f7s ain't no joke.

The F7's are fast as hell. AC got it right with that design If they only had some decent fit and finish and less than 30 recalls a year they would be perfect. They are fast but most of the guys I ride with that own them are under the hood all the time. Im not even sure if the hood on my yamaha opens. lol...
the only time I seam to beat any of the f7's is when I get a little jump off the line and I can hold it long enough to beat them to top end. Other than that they are fast sleds!!

Back when i had a 2004 rx warrior with a ecp kit and clutching i was about 3 sled lengths quicker than my buddies stock 05 F7 SP... They are fast as hell in stock form.. (a F7 is at least 100lbs lighter than a Rx-1 and 75lbs lighther than a apex)
He has now added several mods and it is alot quicker.. i still beat it with my apex gt.. But not by much.
I dont know how any rx-1 is beating a stock apex.. Man these apex's are wicked in stock form..

I hear you on that one. Apex beats up on 800's like crazy around here.

This is about what I think I have to do as well. I'm going to drop some flyweight mass to gain a few extra RPM for some more top end (spinning about 10200 now) and try just that; I HAVE to get them off the line and try to hold enough top end to keep the F7 behind me.

try the smaller roller (14.5) and the oso primary spring. i did play with the weights, but ended up happier with the roller and spring 10,500-600. junkie
I had no problems beating F7's with my 05 RX-1.
Ulmer Stage III, CR10EK plugs and 144 studs.
I have ECP kit, just never had time to install it.
F7's were piped, keywayed, clutched etc..
Dead dig I win, rolling start I win.. didn't matter.
Not all F7's are fast or quick.
They are fun though.
Now I raced one this week with my 06 Apex.
Again Ulmer clutch and studs (couldn't find the nipples for the spark plugs).
We just did a 30 roll.. he was right there for about 20 feet.. then it was see-ya. I let off at 100 something and hit the brake since I was running up on some other buddies. Took him a couple seconds to pass me so not exactly sure how many lengths that is.

I am running all of the above (Stage III Ulmer kit).
I do need to get some more RPM back though since I went to a 1.5" track. With a 1.25" RipSaw I was seeing 10500 on the tach, now since I installed an Intense 1.5", I am down to 10200-10250 and I think it's kicking my arse on top end. I will be removing a little weight on the mid and tip tonight and try it again. I am convinced that I need to be in the 10500-10600 range just as you say IF I want to be fast on top.
