I m looking to buy a used sled. I'm currently interested in an 05 Rx1 with 13 k on it and a 06 Nytro with 10 k on it. Both sleds in good shape and near the same price. The Nytro has a SkiDoo susupension in it and some more add ons. The RX1 appears to be mostly bone stock. Which is the more reliable sled? Is one or the other prone to problems. I personally don't know anyone who owns either. I know thats not much info ,but all sleds have common problems with certain models. Which one would you buy?Any input would be appreciated

What type of riding do you do?

Nytro will have better riding position and better fuel mileage.

It's advertised as an 06 Nytro. I havent seen it in person yet ,but looks like a RX1 . Black with yellow front A arms.

RS Nytro was made in 06 and 07. The Nytro that came out in 08 was the FX Nytro.

that nytro will be awesome on fuel both are carbed sleds the nytro is prone to fuel pump failer and the one we had fouled plugs for some reason. the rx1 is more power and more fun to ride in my opinion.

The 2005 RX-1 has updates that moved onto the Apex, which shows the success of these improvements. The Nytro is a "ditch-banging" sled where the RX-1 is a high horsepower, trail cruiser. What are you looking to do?

I like high power trail sleds. I've read the RX1 is no camparison to the Vector or Apex ,which are much better in every regard. I can get better deals with the RX1 ,but the more I read ,I'm leaning toward an Apex or Vector.

If you get the chance, go for an Apex (with a track 136"+). It's unreal in power. The Vectors are good snowmobiles, but nothing compares to the muscle of the 4-cylinder engine. In my opinion, comparing an RX-1 to an old RS Vector is relative. I believe the RX-1 is still the king.

you have to start somewhere and a rx1 is a good sled I had one for 1700 miles one year before getting my first apex. if you have the means I recomend the apex and sugest the newer apex xtx but that is an even bigger jump but the fun factor is well worth it jmo but I love my xtx and dont plan on changing it till something better comes along with the 4 cylinder motor maybe yamaha will do some thing for their 50th and I can give it a year to see how it works and get one then but only if it is actually better than my xtx.

My dad has an Apex XTX and loves it (except for the weight, it's a HEAVY machine). I'd recommend the new Viper XTX because it's actually quicker to about 70 and is MUCH lighter and I think more comfortable. Starting with an RX-1 is perfect because it's reliable and will never leave you stranded.

RX1. a hundred times, you can get a nice one that's already got most mods needed.

Look at my sig, I think I have a decent opinion on it!

Anyway, the warrior (warriors are rx1's with a factory 136) is a stupid fun sled on trails because of the amount of power. If you want your arms stretched, that is the machine. It does require a higher seat and handlebar risers, in addition to the radiator cooler. (not required but suggested) Off trail, it is a beast... Lots of weight, not the best suspension if you get airborne, but enough power to get you through some deep stuff.

The Nytro on the other hand is much more like a true ditch banging sled. I had a '01 AC ZR 600 before, and they are actually very similar machines. If you get the Nytro airborne, you really don't even notice the landing, it is that smooth. The Nytro also has some decent kick off the line, but the warrior quickly passes it by 40 mph. My major mods to the nytro are a 136" track extension, radiator, and welded aluminum oil tank to replace the leaking OEM one. (warrior has the same tank, it just hasn't leaked yet.) Also, the nytro's have a timing chain tensioner that is prone to failure, and it is a pain to replace. If that hasn't been done, factor that cost in.

If I had to pick, I'd go with the Nytro (that is my sled, wife drives the warrior) I really don't care that much about speed or power, I like off trail and picking my way through the twisties. When we go riding, we do swap back and forth occasionally, and the warrior puts a stupid grin on my face every time! (at least until I get it stuck...)
