The changed j/shaft and main bearings fixed the HOWL in the sled, but I still have a vibration in the handlebars, and the sled "growls" as you're moving along. My gas mileage has also dropped to 15 or less mpg.
When I have it up on a stand and the clutch cover off, the primary and or secondary sounds loud. I noticed the sled is also over revving (9200) when you punch it....it backs off to 8500 once it hooks up.
Could a clutch "issue" be causing the growling sound, vibration in the handlebars and the gas mileage drop?
I have the YES warranty and if it covers clutch parts (pretty sure it does), I'll go that route vs. an aftermarket rebukld kit.
Your thoughts?

Don't know how many miles you each have on your sleds, but both clutches should be cleaned every season. Dirty clutches will cause them to hang up, and can cause over reving until they catch up to the belt shift.

Check secondary bushings & buttons.

the sled has 2100 miles... femaled owned it before me. check the secondary and drive bearing on clutch side.. they looked fine and repacked them like I do on my warrior. cleaned clutches as well. the limiters where on 3rd hole so I dropped them to the first thinking that part of the grumbling was skipping cogs... where are the bushings and buttons you speak of?

Yamaha doesn't warranty their clutches, period.

Undecided,
Which side is the "growl sound" coming from?
If the sled is not shifting up properly and over revving, your fuel mileage will certainly suffer.
Not shifting up properly means that the clutch can get stuck or will remain in a lower ratio. The clutch can't shift because your weights are either grooved or both, your sheeves could also be grooved as well.
You may at times be able to bump the clutch up to a higher ratio, but the problem will become progressively worse and over time you will be stuck in a lower ratio.
I could rev to 10,000 rpm's and only be going 73 mph indicated.
Have you inspected your clutch weights?
Also, as suggested inspect your secondary.
Your weights don't have to look like the weights in the photo below and not to be shifting properly.
Weights after 6,700 miles.

How many miles do you have on your clutch weights? Total mileage?
In short,
The Genesis 120 is a great motor, it just happens to have a lot of harmonic ressonance due to the firing sequence. The primary clutch is the first component in the sled to experience the effects of the harmonics.
Hope this helps!
