05 Vector ER or 05 700 XCSP w/M10

OK - test rode the Vector ER today...about 10 miles. This is the actual sled I would buy. Conditions were icy corners and enough snow to be able to ride. Front springs were fairly tight. Front rear track spring was VERY tight, and the rear cams were in the middle position. THe rear spring bouncer thingys were set in their forwardmost position (I think). Transfer rods looked like they had about 1" of gap (I think).

Sled felt REALLY different that the 14 Polarii I have owned to this point. Much more different than I thought it would, and the RX1 I rode in 03 and early this year.

That being said I/m pretty sure I would be making wholesale changes to the adjustments, almost like Oak Hill said above. The rear susp was too stiff, especially the front track spring. And I felt there was too much transfer because as soon as I was on the throttle coming out of a corner, the front would lift too much and the sled would push. I'll assume it would only get worse with 96 or 144 studs in. I SUSPECT that any one who complains about push or ski lift has too much transfer set in.

Holy schnitz!!! the power is RIGHT THERE when you touch the throttle. That will take some gettin used to. 0-60 = WOW..that was quick! Too much wind hitting my legs but one can get the "touring kit" which adds air deflectors and such. Sled didnt really feel heavy in the front at all compared tot he XCSP 700. Seating position much higher than I'm used to

Would put 6" Doolys on front and right now, 96 studs down the middle.

Dont know what else to say...gonna sleep on it and make a decision tomorrow.

p.s. cant find an 05 RX ER around here for less than 8450. and this is the last Vector ER in my region....would have to go 250 miles to find another one. 121" 4 stroke Yami's with the ER package VERY TOUGH to find right now.

hey pimp....we're not too far away from each other....Wausau here.

the wife opened the door for me to buy a sled...when this happens, I gotta RUN THRU the opening....

dealer I want to buy from had a red one left, which is OK. Didnt want to wait for him to try to locate and blue or silver one.....

this all developed very quickly!!!

I'm missing my XC 700 SP EDGE less and less these days. I'm a little disappointed with Polaris :o| Let me know when you get tired of "more of the same" and hitting that top-end wall. For $100 bucks go with the Vector, :4STroke: :yam: it'll last longer and have higher resale when it's time to trade-up. Last I checked, VESIII was around $10/qt. and it goes in every 120 miles or so that you ride.

Hey undecided, I think you'll like the Vector once you tune the suspension. I'm a Polaris rider since 91. I've had 13 new ones since then so I know what you are going through. The Vector now has 1500 miles on it. It has 96 studs down the center and Duallies. It handles just ok as it needs a ski change. The duallies make it push when ridden hard. Once I figure out which skis to buy this sled will be in my stable for 3 years. This sled uses two-thirds the gas of my 600 XC and half the gas of my 01 XC 800 (non VES). And NO oil to add on trips.
Forget the clutch rattle it's only noisy at idle. My wheels are wearing where they hit the heads of the studs. I don't think this will be a problem as I'm guessing Yamaha will come out with an update. Sliders have not worn any as we have good snow conditions.
If you are sick of dumping gas and oil into your XC's then buy the Vector and save $1200 per year on gas and oil (if you ride 3000 miles in Canada).

Good Luck I don't think you'll be dissappointed.

Well...I need to change my name from "undecided" to.....(something else!) ...any sugegstions out there??

Bought the Vector ER a week ago and put 160 miles on her Saturday. Had 144 studs put on and added 6" Doolies. Added a few more "blingy" items to dress it up.

Had the dealer set it up the way OakHill suggested with the exception of backing off (less transfer) the transfer rods 2 turns Front end does not feel heavy at all. #$%&* AWESOME POWER!!! Touch the throttle and the power is right there.

You'll get ski lift on any sled in the right situation but this sled is very predictable. With an engine with so much torque and "instant on" power, it would seem that the "anti ski lift" adjustments will have to be very precise and coupled with other adjustments.

A friend that is a long time Yami owner said that this is the best Yami he has driven EVER.
