05 Vector has NO Power

Help, my 05 vector is running like crap. It starts fine and idles a little rough. The real problem started the first time I hit 50mph on the trail. It was like someone turned off the power switch :o| . It would barely go 30 mph and then it would only go about 15. Changed the plugs and added some carb cleaner to a new tank of fuel. It seemed to help, but still not at 100%. Went a few miles and had the same problem come back at around 40 mph (no power and seemed like it was only running on one cylinder). It's not a TORS problem (been there know that one). Limped along at <15 mph for a few miles and it was like someone turned the power switch back on. It ran fine for another 25 miles or so. Then I took it up to 70 mph and it started to dog out again. Everthing seemed like junk in the carbs, so we got it home and went through the carbs today. We found a little junk in them. Took it for a test ride after cleaning them and it did the same thing again. Any ideas on this one would be appreciated.

getting spark to all 3 cyl.?

carbs sync'd?

maybe weak fuel pump or its going out? not sure how common this is.

I haven't done any thing to change the carb sync. It ran fine last year when i put it away. How do I check the fuel pump?

check for clogs in the fuel & vacuum hoses first.

all the service manual says is hook up a hand vacuum gauge ("milty vac") to vac. hose & put a cup under the fuel delivery hose. pump the vac. no fuel comes out, replace pump

Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow as well as make sure i have good spark on all three cylinders.

I just fixed a similar issue with the wifes 09 vector! I took the carbs apart to clean them in the fall due to plugged pilots and gummed up bowls. After this sled started and idle perfect but lacked power. On our first ride sled would not rev past 6500 rpm and would only go 70 kmh tops with wot. Took carbs apart all was clean. Ran sled with air box lid off and notice the slides in the carb would not open. I pulled the diaphragm slides out and found it was not sealed properly to the cap. Used some grease to hold the diaphragm in place (they tend to shrink alittle) while i bolted the cap back on. One more think to check if you disturbed the carbs like i did.

Tore the carbs apart yesterday and cleaned out all the jets. Running like new again. Thanks for all the help. I hate it when we have snow and I have to work on the sleds instead of ride them. Guess it serves me right for not doing some pre-season maintanence. Won't happen again next year.

Thanks again ;)!

Proper maintenance is an absolute must with the gas nowadays. Use mechanic in a bottle and add some to your gas and use it to treat your gas for storage.
