After overheating problem and self-repair, the sled won't even turn over. Charged Battery, checked electrical by holding thumb warmer down for 8 sec while turning to on position, guage, lights, come on. Just won't turn over.
Any idea's
Thanks

Will the motor trun over by hand.
You aren't saying enough about it. Is the starter engaging?

Could be a relay.

Crankshaft turns freely, bypassed relay - nothing
Service manual says the started motor replace.
What I've read the started in on the underside of the motor so the motor needs to be removed (no wonder the dealer said it wasn't worth fixing) anyways, I bought an engine hoist, and a $95 Yamaha engine mount removal socket (no its not solid gold)'and up pled the engine and removed the starter. Should it turn freely? Won't budge! Where it goes into the engine it turns freely. Is there a way to test it? Wired 12v positive directly to it and touched neg to body -big spark no turning
Thanks

What do you mean where it goes into the engine it turns freely? It either turns or it doesn't. If you put
12 volts to it it should have cranked.

I've removed the starter motor, where it goes into the engine, my finger can turn the inside. The starter motor itself seems seized, can't turn it even a bit.

Good topic nufinis. Keep us informed and let us know what the problem was/is.

Bought a new starter motor, can I just give it 12v to see if it will turn over without reinstalling the engine and everything else? A friend said just give the cylinders a good shot of deep creep first. Carbs and plugs are not on/in
