Recently purchased a new to me '06 Apex GT. Unfortunately, didn't come with owner's manual. I don't seem to be able to get the mode on the guage pod to switch to the shock mode so I can use adjust with the handwarmer switch.
Any input on troubleshooting this? If I have a disconnect in the wiring path, would this cause the mode not to switch to the shock mode? Seems odd I cannot get to the mode. Am I missing a step?
Thanks for any ideas you can pass my way.

bankershrs - First off if you push the mode button with the sled running it should toggle between the handwarmer and the shock adjust functions on the meter however if you have an open in the wiring to the shock it will act like the shock option is not there. If you have recently fixed a wiring problem and you still don't get the shock option to come up I have seen the wiring short out when damaged and take out the CDI box - this is rare but I have seen it more than once. Feel free to give me a call if you have more questions or need further help. Thanks

Check the fuse for the EC shock. If this fuse is blown it will act just like you describe.

Thanks for the suggestions.
No codes displayed. I'll start with the fuse and work from there. Totally new to the 4 strokes, so a little lost compared to my Viper.
Thanks / Pat

You will probably find that the wire at the solenoid is broken. This has been a big problem with the Apex GT. Seems as though ice buildup breaks the wire. Yamaha gave me a new solenoid to replace but I have not determined how to remove the old one yet.
Good Luck, Steve

flyinpig - If you take a look at your new solenoid you will see the clip on it that holds the solenoid into a groove inside the shock body. To remove the old solenoid you must pry it up to put enough pressure on the clip to work it past the groove and allow the solenoid to release out. Sometimes you will crack off part of the top of the solenoid trying to remove it therefore it is only recommended to be removed if you are replacing it.

OK, time to dig a little deeper into this problem. I need to get at the shock and wiring to find my problem. Is it better to drop the skid to get at it or just pull the shock (I think I read somewhere here that balancing the rear end just right will take pressure off both mounts of the shock for easy removal).

How can you tell if the shock is working? The shock comes up on the display and the bar graph goes up and down, but the shock dosn't seem to be working.

I have wondered the same thing. I guess that if the display functions properly it must be working as designed?

However I have never really been able to feel any real difference in the suspension between full soft and full firm settings.
