Funny things happening this year. I did a service on my attak, coolant appeared full. I will admit I never checked coolant freeze point. But I went out riding the other day with a temp of -15C (6F) and everytime I stopped for not even a minute, the warning light would turn on with the temp symbol on also.
The Aux cooling fan is blowing like mad too. I am having a hard time beleiving it is overheating. What other conditions can cause the warning light with Temp symbol to Illuminate? I thought of installing a rear axchanger but I have been known to ride in
-30C to -40C
Will a Heat exchanger cause me more problems at these temperatures? Any Suggestions on what I can do to help eliminate my problem?

my light cam on last yr because real hard snow condtion even though it was plenty cold enough. once i could get off into some loose deep snow it would go out.

If there was snow in the rear suspension, meaning snow was getting to the front exchanger. I would first check your freeze point, and adjust it to fit. If the freeze point is good then a rear exchanger would be my next step.

is there an easy way to check the operation of the cooling fan? my sled has overheated in the past and i never heard any fan running.

Yup, remove the side pannel and start it up, let it run for a while. It should come on after 10 or 15 minutes. If your temp light comes on the fan should already be running. You may want to check your fuse first just to eliminate that as a posibility.

The only problem that you may have by installing a rear cooler on an Attak is adding stud protection if you run studs. Otherwise it can only help not hurt.
