I am thinking of trading in my 06 Attak for a Phazer. I am looking for a lighter sled that I can toss around in the ditches, etc. I enjoy this aspect of riding more than high speeed. Has anyone gone from a big sled to the phazer? If so, what are your thoughts?

I went from a supercharged warrior to a phazer. I thought the phazer was much more fun to ride in the trails. On lakes it was tough, but trails (even nice wide trails) it was a blast.

My father went from a MXZ 600 to a phazer. He does miss the power, but also loves the phazer as well. If you like going 40MPH then punching it and hitting 70 or 80 in a couple of seconds, then I personally believe the phazer is not for you. From 0 to 30 or 40 I believe the phazer is awesome, but again it stops pulling hard after about 50 in my opinion. It will creep up to about 80 or so if given the chance. In the ditches, and tight trails, the phazer rocks. I would trade my apex for the phazer in a heart beat if the trails i rode never got long and straight. The position on the phazer is awesome, you can throw it around very easy and this makes it very fun for riding the ditches.
I second tkuss opinion above. If you like to ride tight and twisties, there isnt a sled out there as nice as the Phazer.... if you want the higher speed stuff, try the new nytro. it is like a phazer on roids..... i have an attak as well, and would like to have a phazer around to ride some, but i would miss the power when we go up to the UP trails, and on the lake tops

The site member Reaper has both an Apex GT and a Phazer. Guess which one he rode the most last season? Yep, the Phazer. I rode with him one day in late February. There were five us in the group; 1 Phazer, 1 Attak, 1 Apex, 1 RX-1, and 1 Ski-Doo Blair Morgan. Except for the lake runs, the Phazer was in front the whole time. I was extremely impressed with the Phazer. Reaper let me ride whilst we were banging the ditches. Wow! The Phazer was much more fun than my Attak.

You would be hard pressed to catch Reaper even if he was on a 74 olympique!!!!!

Thanks for the input
Well - I pulled the trigger - I pick up the Phazer on Friday.
If I want more power, I will buy a Nitro next year and save the Phazer for my wife and daughter. I just wish I hadn't put the new track on my Attak at the end of last season ![Banghead :o| :o|](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/banghead.gif)

I went from an RX1 to the Phazer, Can't tell you how I like it yet. I haven't riden it yet, Sure you will probably miss the speed but the fun factor should be SWEETon the Phazer. I also ride with my daughter who is on a Polaris 340 sport. I don't like leaving her far behind. So this way we can ride together.

Such a tough call. But I sold My Attak this year as well. I loved My Phazer and that's what I spent most of My time on last year.

I think you will be happy with the Phazer. If carving corners and ditchbanging are more your cup of tea than flying across the lake at 115 mph, then the Phazer is a good choice.
If you miss the power and speed of your Attak you could always just turbocharge the Phazer and have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the input guys. I rode a phazer last year for about 10 miles. It had a much higher "fun factor" than my Attak. Now, we just need some damn snow. Maybe I will take it through the yard on Friday after I pick it up. ![Rockon  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/rockon.gif)

I went from vmax4 and a sx viper to a phazer fx last year. The phazer is a fun sled to drive but I have sold it and bought a apex rtx 2006 instead. I think you will miss the power that you are used to from your attack ALOT. I had ulmer clutch kit and the 1,5" freeride track on my fx. The clutch kit worked as ulmer said so I was really happy with it and the freeride track is a must if you are driving other places than on hard packed trails.
My fx was fast from 0 up to 60mph but that was all.. Top speed was 130kmh on meter and 120kmh/75mph on gps. Was same numbers before mods done and after.
There were also a lot of issues with the first year phazer : Cold start problems, reverse problems, snow entering engine making the steering freeze, to fast rebound on rear shock (fx) and huge ice problems because of the big hole back on the tunnel. Hopfully yamaha have taken care of this issues on the 08 models.
I strongly recomend you to take a testride on the phazer before you sell your attack.

I rode the GT 1300 exciting miles last year. Didn't miss my 160HP ZR 800 one bit. Sometimes I'd like to go a little faster on a long straight grade or on a lake but the sled is so handleable in the woods and bumps. I weigh about 150 and it responds the way I like. The standup riding makes bumps comfortable and eeasy. Thought about Nos and Turbo, but I don't have the cash and it would really only be for my penchant to mess with the sled it really is plenty for my riding needs. The issues others brought up about iceing and heating are valid, so consider them too. ![Rockon  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/rockon.gif)

I have a '06 Attak, and two '07 Phazers (one for the wife & one for the son.) In the trails, the Phazer is my sled of choice. Across the lake, I'll take the Attak. 0-60 mph the Phazer isn't far behind the Attak. 60-100 mph the Attak blows away the Phazer. That said, if you're a trail rider, get the Phazer. If you're a lake screemer, keep the attack. Better yet, keep the Attak and get a Phazer!!
