Can an 06 ER rear shock be replaced with the Ohlin GT shock? If so, please list process/steps and does the GT shock need to be wired for handle bar adjustment or does the standard ER dial continue to adjust the preload? Thanks!

Not a 100% sure but I don't think you can just wire in the Ohlin rear shock. Travis at Barn of parts can answer this question. If it was me I would send your shock into Hygear and have them rebuild and revalve it to your weight and riding style then add the dual rate spring with the threaded cross over . This would give you a step up over a used Ohlin that might need a rebuild .

I believe there is a connector for the Ohlins on all Apex models of that generation that runs out of a wire harness behind the reverse handle/chaincase, and the gage pod will pick it up as being installed once sled is fired up. The wire from the shock runs through an access hole in the tunnel close to the area of the drive axle with a grommet in it, that may not be there on all models but should not be a problem to put one in. Wire needs to be properly protected/secured running off the A-arm so snow and ice chunks don't rip it to shreds.
And yes Travis would know for sure on all this stuff.

Your apex would have the provisions built in to accept the ohlins. There is a white plug in the main harness by the fuse box. You would need the sublead that runs from that plug down into the tunnel to plug into the shock. The mode function in the gauge cluster would allow you toggle to the shock mode. Once the shock symbol displays on the cluster you then use the grip warmer toggle switch to adjust the compression dampening. Rebound dampening would be the rubber wheel towards the rear shock eyelet. The original tunnel adjuster has no function with the ohlins.

I have have a few used shocks kyb shocks with hygear springs set ups, and also some ohlins. May even have an ohlins with hygear spring.

Thank you!

Go with the Hygear shock BOP has if it is similar price. The stock shock with Hygear is better than stock Ohlins, but Ohlins with Hygear is cats' meow.
You will PM later in year with praise for my brilliant advice.

Or.....you'll hate me & never read another of my posts...
