06 Flap vs 07

What is the reason some people are upgrading their 06 mudflaps to the 07?

When backing up the flexibility of the 06 flap would sometimes allow it to get caught under the track. One theory was that backing up over the flap was causing some tunnels to bend down. I think the problem was too much weight in the rear of the sled (exhaust, ice build-up) when bottoming out the skid. The 07 flap is very stiff and sticks out at more of an angle.

I have the 2007 Attak and it also is geting caught most of the time when backing up. If there is loose snow at all it will catch. I will be cutting mine off at the join that is about 2-3 inches from the bottom.

I upgraded to the 07 flap on my 06 and it was one of the best things I did,I use to run over the 06 flap every time I backed up,plus it looks a whole lot better!!

On the wifes vector (it had the xtra long flap) you could never back it up more than a cpl feet and suck the flap, now with the new flap, not a problem, and my 07 attak works good too!

I have the 2007 Attak and it also is geting caught most of the time when backing up. If there is loose snow at all it will catch. I will be cutting mine off at the join that is about 2-3 inches from the bottom.

What I did on my 03's was get a piece of nylon webb about 1" and wrap it around the rear bumper bar on one end and on the other end I anchored it to the flap. Down almost to bottom. I did this on both sides and it never gets in the studded track anymore.. I used black webb and ss hardware.

Like the Woodys but with two and it's a lot cheaper...leaves room in the middle for grabbing if stuck and for my dog sled hitch.

I did it for the looks, and for the same reason mentioned above. I guess a few people get the older style caught up in the track when backing up.
The newer style is just better looking, and gets everyone wondering if my Apex GT is an '06 or an '07.

I used snaps on the upper but you get the idea. You can use what ever suits you.. You can see the stud damage starting. These were a new set I just put on. They might be able to be put on on the inside and work as well.

Also how come when I look at some posts there aren't any pic's and the guys are saying nice pics?

One thing I discovered this season is my sled (hyfax especially) runs cooler with the snow flap bent downwards - close to touching the ground.

With it like this you can only back up on hard packed trail (unless you hold the flap up with your left hand).

In deeper snow the 07 flap will still get pulled into the studs very easily when backing up - even when it was pointing outwards by close to 45 degrees (stock).

A couple of things I like about the new flap: looks and with it being much more rigid you can set it up (bend the mount downwards) so it really captures the snow and keeps the snow dust in the tunnel (better cooling and hyfax lube).

Putting the straps on it will not let the flap hit the studs. At least with the 03 vmaxs.. I saw my wife backed up good into a bank and the flap was angled in alittle. Only the tip of the flap below was bent in and it couldn't contact the track.

With the webbing idea you can set it at any angle you'd like. If you set it to point straight down or even tilting under some it will stay there. When I was setting the pitch I anchored it first to the bumper then held it tight against the flap were I thought it might work. I then tried to get the flap to bend in. The strap tightened and then stopped at a certain point. I did this a couple of times to get the right spot for me.

I have a good feeling you could put the straps on the inside to do the same and not have the look's of the webbing. I may try to do that this summer on all of my sleds. (3)

Nice not to have to worry about jamming up.. My Attak does it alot and I will do it now that you said it still jams with the 07..

I know this is off topic but how do you like the extrovert/1"track combo...I've been seriously considering it on my attak
