The Vector suspension has been a pleasant suprise for me. Once properly tuned (see my post on suspension stock), me and everybody who tried it loved the ride. On my RX, it has been a different story. I never found a setting for comfort, neither my friend. I also tried other 05 rx with different settings without good results. Last saturday, I drove for a while a used Venture; it was so confortable, and I said to myself that I can't endure an other winter with this lack of confort (stiff on stutters, bottoms on big ones). I am getting bored to have to get under the sled to modify the spring setting. Also, the front end is stiff, even at the minimum setting.

So, I think I will keep the Vector because the 06 comes with mono. Since I will trade my RX, can I expect improvement and comfort on APEX? Maybe the MONO springs and shock will be better calibrated. Maybe the relocation of the engine will help.

I loved the engine, its fuel economy, sound, four stroke performance, the overall quality of the machine (except the mono's -bicycle bushings etc), so I'D like to stay with Yamaha.

When I looked at the brochure, all you see is a stand up rider. Plus when I sat on the APEX with the rised and foward handlebars, I' m asking to myself " are the APEX for agressive riders, not for me ?" I am looking for the best combination of performance andcomfort. This year, I went to Yamaha because of their new suspensions.

Your input and info will help me decide. A Polaris FST with m-10 would be a last option..

The 05 was a new suspension as with anything new it had its probems. The seating position is not a sit on the back of the seat position as that will not be comfortable, more of a center of the seat for the best position relative to the shock action and best ride. You can buy an articulating riser to move the bars closer but that would defeat the shock action and not be as good a ride. This sled is designed to be ridden in the centre of the seat or front of the seat. This is the way the industry is going based on consumer demand.

Jim,

is it possible to see on internet an "articulating riser"? It seems interesting.

btw, the front part on my mono (holding the transfer shaft) broke into pieces today. Luckily, it happenned just in front of my dealer, as he was leaving for a snowmobile ride! He was kind to let me continue my ride with his demo Vector.

Considering the fact that next year engine is new, what happened this year with the mono makes me wonder if reliability will be there!

The apex and attack mono were much better than my 05 in the demo rides. I think the reason is that the front and back suspensions work better together. My 05 feel's like they are at odds at times. I felt that with the 06's my mass was more centered so a lot of the initial mogul shock was absorbed by the front and the back didn't have to work nearly as hard.
