Sled ran great before I replaced cam chain tensioner. Now it won't idle without applying throttle. It seems if you get beyond 2000rpm it runs fine- this is on the stand- not driving it. I never pulled carbs off during the project- only disconnected the gas tank. I pulled carbs and cleaned tonight but still the same! The battery was disconnected for several days but I don't think that would be an issue w/ the ecm. Spark plugs look ok- none are wet or appear fouled out. ANY IDEAS? I am going to get a new set of plugs tomorrow just to eliminate that. Thanks.

I only found two jets in the bowl. One was the main and the other was right next to it. Am I missing one? Thanks.

The big center one is the Main jet and the smaller one next to it is the pilot jet. You'll have to clean these in all of your carbs. I had to do mine twice this year. First time only one pilot jet was plugged out of all of them. Second time 2 were plugged out of the 3. This was after the sled sat in the offseason. Once I put fresh gas in and cleaned them twice the sled runs great. I also had to synch my carbs. Sled ran but synching them made it so much smoother.

did you verify your cam timing after the tensioner change?

when i removed the old tensioner i heard the cams move so i checked the timing-sure enough the timing was off, might be the same for you.

hope this helps!

That is what happened to mine. I still have to figure out how the marks on the gears need to line up. It is very strange how well it runs( good power and accelaration) but no idle. I talked to a dealer about the symptoms and he said that's what it sounds like happened, and they have seen it before. If I would have known that could have happened, I would have just left it alone! From what the dealer said- you would have to be very lucky for that not to happen- unless you had the valve cover off and held the cam gears and chain.

ive heard it is verry common also, when i did mine i tooke the valve cover off and zip tied the chain on both cam gears so i knew that the chain would not jump any teeth while i had the tensioner out.
