Gentlemen,
I am in the market for a upgrade from my sxr700 to either a 06 nytro or 06 rs rage! I do mostly trail riding and the there are a couple of these 4 strokes for sale in the local paper. Could give some pros and cons for the both of them? Thanks!

Are you a ditch banger? The nytro is more rough trail aggressive with air shocks and stiffer springs. However it does have a higher seat and bars if you are into a more rider foward position. I would have a good look at a nytro before I purchased to check for damage/condition as it is more likely to have been ridden hard.
Personally I have a rage with an apex seat and bar risers. For me the nytro windshield is useless.

- 08' Nytro RTX 40th Anniversary - Stretched
I think it depends on what type of wrenching you want to do. Ultimatley you will wind up with the same sled in the in many ways. I think most will say once they have ridden a 136" skid they wont go back to a 121". The 136" is so much better bridging the bumps and with off trail riding. So in the end you will want a 136".
Rage Pros - 136", Mono ride
Rage Cons - Ergos, skid bottoms out on big hits
Nytro Pros - Ergos, grearing for corner to corner
Nytro Cons - 121", have read that the skid also bottoms easily
So in the end a lot of guys on this site will stretch a Nytro to 136" or add Nytro ergos like I did to my Rage. I think you will spend less money and time adding Nytro ergos to a Rage than stretching a Nytro to 136" IMO. Good luck with whatever sled you decide to go with. G.B.

If your mostly a trail rider go with the Rage. And tweek it to your style of riding. Thats what I did.
If your a aggresive rider get the Nytro and strech it. Cost wise it would be the same as adding mods to the Rage if you get used parts for both upgrades.
I have the skid, track, and tunnel extension from my rage if you want to strech a Nytro. You will mostly enjoy the smooth power from the 4 stroke on which ever machine you get.

I've been happy with my Nytro and I only trail ride. As far as bottoming out on the sled it's true and I have but not often. I am on the light side weighing about 175 lbs with gear though. You can always upgrade the shocks and make them stiffer or softer and a lot of guys have with many different yamaha sleds.
I've never had a rage. I guess it comes down to if you want the extended track or if you'll be happy with the shorty with the option to extend down the rode if you even want to as stated above from a member.
