Buddy was riding his Rage for the first time this season today and heard a clunk and the engine stopped. Would not turn over and when he tried to manually rotate the clutch the engins was locked up. Sled has less then 2000 miles on it.
Anyone have an idea of what went wrong, sled is going to dealer tomorrow to see what they can determine.

Possibly another failed tensioner. Keep us posted.

Initial feedback from dealer, starter broke off of engine and they think it broke off when the timing chain went south, they are still tearing into it to determine the actual problem. One thing they are sure of is the starter broke off of the engine.
If the starter broke off from the engine and the engine is still locked up then the chances are pretty good that the timing chain broke to keep the engine locked up.
Time will tell and will see what support Yamaha offers.
Current owner is the second owner and the sled has low miles, returned to selling/servicing dealer which is Hackers, Houghton Lake, MI
Hackers has a great reputation and hopefully they will support their customer in getting the maximum support from Yamaha.
