hey,
when i put my sled into reverse, sometimes it wont engage it gives off a grinding sound. i looked and i think the linkage can be adjusted to enguage better. any thoughts? thanks

ok, i figured it out. i followed the reverse lever linkage until it became a vertical threaded adjustment rod. i loosened both nuts with a 10mm wrench. one is left hand thread the other right hand. i then adjusted the threaded rod by hand, a finger adjuster is on the rod. i lenghthened the rod about 1/8 in at both ends. retightened both nuts and started the sled. that fixed it.

I just experienced the same issue on my newly acquired 09 Venture GT. Did the same as you, but only added about a 1/16". Time will tell, The sound of the reverse 'dogs' grinding scared the crap out of me. The linkage total movement is very short, I would have thought there would be more engagement.
Thanks for updating what you did.

hey, glad it helped, i took a second look at my dimention i posted and the one you posted. my 1/8 may have been an over estimate. 1/16 per end seems more accurate.
Best Regards

oh ya scared the crap out of me too. thought my sled was trying to eat its self.

had that trouble too on our '10 Venture. found a thread on here somewhere that gives you the exact lengths of both the rods. worked like a charm.

found your link... here's the adjustment line...
"The upper link should measure 27mm from the inside of one jam nut to the inside of the other, the lower rod should be adjusted so that there is zero free play when in the forward position."
Funny, I had read the same in my service manual, but only now did it make sense! The upper 27mm measurement(horizontal link) is to insure the lever gives max throw. The vertical link adjustment relieves the play... I would assume that the factory would have set the horizontal link to 27mm, so just adjust out the vertical link to zero free play!

EDIT after rereading 'oldguy2' , probably not the same thread as his gave both link measurements.

I'll add that the reverse linkage adjustment seems to be a very FINE adjustment. 1/8 or 1/4 turn makes a world of difference..at least it does on my Vector.
