FYI The small line that goes to the air box from the base of the engine pumps out an amazing amount of oil whan you forget to connect it!
I put my sled back together after installing bulkhead and A arm bushings and missed this hose.
After less than a minute of running the oil was running out the belly pan. This was at idle... I can imagine running the system empty in short order actually riding the sled.

I wanted mirrors but didn't want them to be obvious looking or get in the way when the cover was on. I used one of those mirrors that goes on your wrist and wrapped it around my bar end, works good and it was cheap.

I found a RX-1 touring kit on ebay. It has mirrors on it, looks good asfits the contours of the hood being factory and all. I'll posts pics later.

Thanks Yamadoo,
I check the site from time-to-time. Summer has been relaxing.
What else can we add to Crzy4Snow's upgrade list?![]()
If not already added, I would add a skid plate. Maybe red?

I thaught about a skid plate after seeing a thread on here about a guy that had some damage to the underside of the sled near the oil filter access panel. Then after doing the engine swap and seeing how close that oil filter actually is. Might not be a bad idea.
Hondo, do you happen to know the diameter of the kimpex wheels you used? I am assuming that the 06 uses the same basic skid that yours does so the upgrade would be the same. Thanks

Crazy, I am glad everything worked out in the end with your new Venture. It looks really sweet. When you get a chance, post some more pictures of your seat and rack set up. G.B.

I forgot to mention that you will need tunnel protectors if you add studs. Yamaha has them listed in their catalog for the Venture. Do you have your heated shield wire hooked up yet. I also disabled the T.O.R.S. on my sled. The TORS became more of a problem then what I thought it was worth.

Crazy4Snow,
I don't have the exact diameter of the Kimpex wheels. They are around 1/4" wider, approximately 1/8" on each side.
Kimpex part# 04-116-965. Kimpex now has a direct replacement using the 6005 bearing. I have never been to kimpex.com site. According to another TY member page 356 has the information.
The wheels work real well and also help reduce slide wear.
Concur with Shivesy regarding TORS. Mine is disabled as well. Never had any safety concerns.
Crazy4Snow,
On your slide rails are there outside idler wheels approximately 10" ahead of your rear axle wheels? If not, the 06 slide rails were redesigned and should be pre-drilled for a set of wheels in that position.
I upgarded to 06 slide rails with the idler wheels in that position instead if running marginal snow wheels and they make a tremendous difference in the slide wear department. I'm still on slides that have over 12,000 miles.
Hope this helps!
