- 2009 Venture
Hello, new to the forum and potentially new to Yamaha snowmobiles.
I have an opportunity to purchase a 2009 Venture at a very good price that has a seized engine from running out of oil. It is a carburated engine and the rest of the sled is in very good condition and has fairly low miles.
I am hoping to get some opinions as to whether it is worth rebuilding it, or is a used engine the most cost effective way to go? From what I have been able to find a used engine @ 4k would be more than the sled is worth and I can't seem to find much information about rebuilding these engines.
The engine is still in the sled and other than being seized it is not known what failed. The crankcase seems to be intact.
Assuming the block is reusable and it needed to otherwise be completely overhauled, are the parts available and is it cost effective to rebuild it. I would do the work other than the outside machine shop expertise.
Appreciate some opinions.

its very expensive to rebuild and hard to find a used engine priced decent.
thats why guys part out so many running sleds instead of selling whole sled.

Look for a good running sled with low mileage. Lower the mileage higher the cost. I would not start rebuild.

How hard have you tried to un-seize it? Definitely worth pouring some appropriate product down the spark plug holes and giving it a few days to see if you get lucky.

Hello did you buy the venture and get it running? If not I would be very interested in buying it.Hello, new to the forum and potentially new to Yamaha snowmobiles.
