My wifes sled (very low milage) when put into reverse moves a short distance and then stops moving and has a grinding noise....I checked the reverse linkage to make sure it is in spec 70mm ???.......could I have a problem with the reverse gear??? the little springs that go into the gear.......should I just try increasing the linkage throw to make sure the reverse gear is seated properly....Thanks for any info, or experience

Before you decide to open the chaincase. Set the chain tension follower to spec (finger tight then back it off a quarter turn or so). Then double check the linkage adjustment.
However, in my experience with these types of reverse mechanisms, the grinding occurs when the sliding gear (on the bottom) dosen't move outward far enough to completely engage the small "middle" gear.

I found that reverse gear linkage to be very "touchy" I tried and tried to adjust it myself following the directions on the TY site, then frustration set in and I gave up-- Had the dealer do it.

Mine just did this same thing two weeks ago.Undo both ends (nuts) of the linkage. Make it longer by one turn at a time, I ended up going one and a half turns,so only like one thread. No problems since! Its an easy fix. Think it was two 5 MM wrenchs?

Were you making the linkage tighter?

no, you are making the little shaft longer. When ya have the top off looking at the shifting linkage, run it back and forth to see how it all works. The top horizontal shaft, about three inchs or so is the one with two lock nuts on either end.I think it was 5 mm wrench. Loosen them both and spin the center shaft making it longer. Only one thread did it for me. Its like the streering shaft on the front end, loosen both outside ends and move center shaft for adjustment.
