Has anyone seen or know of a good rack to purchase for the 07 Attak. Something that looks decent and is functional enough to strap a couple of things on. Maybe strap on a small gas can, small pack, etc. I have checked the racks through the dealer/catalogue and cannot find anything that will fit the Attak.

Can you change out just the exhaust tips for the mountain ones on the Attak to direct the exhaust out away from the shelf?

Will the rack of a renegade fit and switch tips for the exhaust to the Mountain tips? I am sure that you would have to cut thepipe and angle it to fit the tips.

This is interesting...

If the angled tips can be installed on the Attak, there would be more rack options.

Anyone familiar with this?

Also, I searched for a Crossfire rack and it looks like this rack is not much bigger than the stock Attak.

Can the Apex mountain rack fit somehow?

it looks like the whole muffler assembly would need to be swapped for a bolt on operation. of coarse if you are decent at welding and fabricating, you could make the stock muffler work. i imagine you could pick up a new muffler from a turbo guy cheap, so fabbing might be a waste of time.

Exits appear to be standard 1 3/4 inch steel tubing, and are part of the entire muffler. Probably aluminized steel but I'm not positive on that. Should be able to just pick up about 6 inches of 1 3/4" exhaust pipe scrap from a local muffler shop, cut to fit and weld them on for turned out exhaust tips....or take muffler to a welder and pay him to do the same...$50 tops for parts and labor at any respectable muffler shop or welder. $5 materials and less than an hour with no muffler removal necessary if you have MIG equipment in your garage. For the more finished look buy the Mountain Apex plastic bezels first and do your fabricating to fit those.

A rack can't be very tall anyway or you'd obscure the taillight, so straight tips might work just fine for a low bag/low rack, unless you're going to relocate the taillight also, then you could carry taller stuff but would want to turn the exhaust away...

To the original question, I have not found a rack for the Attak yet either...I figure someone probably will design and sell one eventually. Until then you'll have to fabricate and improvise.

I picked up the 2007 catalogue at Hay Days. Page 16 and part number SMA-8FSRR-RA-CK is a rack for all Attak models. This is new this season. It looks like it could hold a gas tank. ;)!

Apex Mountain Rear Rack

Lightweight aluminum rack comes complete with all mounting hardware, rear hose covers and instructions. Rack saves 1.1 pounds over stock rack.

Black
Fits Apex Mountain and Vector Mountain SE

SMA-8FSRR-RA-CK $234.95

This is designed to put on the mountain sleds. What we are talking about is changing the tunnel piece and changing the exhaust to put a rack on the Attack to carry gas.
