07 Phazer no start

Had the starter come apart last year so i replaced it at the end of season. Didnt get to ride it as snow was gone. Tried to fire her up and turns over very slow and doesnt wanna start. It never was a good starter to begin with.

So... i put a brand new battery in and same thing. Ive read through some stuff and found this in one of Cannondales threads:
"Cold start addressed with ECU and mod to decomp " Wondering if this is something i should address.

i ran into same issue for the initial fire of the season. kept cranking & cranking, popped a couple times out the exhaust. put a charger on it, cranked a few more times & had to cuss at it awhile & almost gave in, she fired. let it run til i heard the fan kick in so i knew it was warm.
i was about to look into the "co" adjustment but nervous about screwing things up. if it happens again i will be reading up on it for sure.

Sledbuddy you need to address why it is turning over slow before worrying about the coldstart update.Look for bad connections and do a load test on battery.Even if new it wouldnt be the first bad battery I have seen.

Any replies are helpful, thank you. Cannondale i will charge and load test battery and report back. I did have my volt meter on battery while cranking and it didnt drop below 11vdc.

What i noticed last year was if it was in my garage and warm it would fire no problem. It worries me because if i go up north i wont be able to keep it warm. Ill do some voltage drop tests and report back..

I forgot to mention the starter is aftermarket, hopefully this is not the cause. It behaves exactly as it did before new starter. Thanks guys.

The cold start update/tech bulliten was for 07 Phazers. It's a new ECU and different decompression springs to allow for a faster crank. Last I heard it was a $400.00 approx. upgrade unless your buddies with a stealer.

My sled is hooked up to a battery tender after a ride + has this update, don't really think it cranks over that much faster... takes a bit to whirl.
I use the now perfected: turn the key on/ off "prime" 2-3 times method, seems to fire up better every time.

New battery load tests good, had them check it twice to be sure. Haven't had a chance to get back out there to work on it but thanks all for the suggestions.

I wonder if there is a spec or maybe we should take a poll to see what the cold cranking rpm's should be?I couldnt find a spec in manual.

I would like to thank everybody who replied in this thread. I wanted to finish the story as i hate when i read through unfinished threads.

Wish i could say that i found a problem, addressed it, and it started but is not the case. I dragged it in my shed and warmed it up. It sounded like it wanted to go so i opened the throttle and it hit a couple times and eventually with some coaxing it started. I let it run till it was hot and it seems to be fine as i have run it for a couple hrs now. Guess i will chalk it up to old fuel/fouled plugs.

Also i realize that you are not supposed to open the throttle but it didnt hit once until i did. It now starts from cold in about 3 seconds.

good to hear. i'd run some injector cleaner thru it with a new tank of gas.

Awesome thanks for update.I took note of cranking rpm when cold.At 10 deg f mine turns over at 270 rpm.Once warm its 280.
