Guys I just traded my 87' Mustang for a 07' Phazer for my son. The track is what i can only describe as delaminating. The top layer is seperating from the bottom layer. Was this a common problem? I am thinking about going to a 136" kit so any info on that would be appreciated also. I also don't have an owners manual for it yet as it is at the previous owners cabin in the U.P. and they are going up this weekend riding and say they will bring it back. There was a recall on the steering links, so what do I have to take apart to check to see if thisone is one of the affected ones (looking for the clevis pins) ? The sled has only 1690 miles on it . It has quite a bit of pep and seems to handle and ride just fine. Any info on adjusting the chaincase would also be appreciated, is it the same as my 07' Attak? I am also thinking about a clutch kit for it for my son, so any info on that as well would help. Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of the phazer track delaminating before, but i would get a new track before that one explodes (I have seen it happen on other sleds before, it is not pretty). For adjusting the chain all you have to do is take off the battery mount on the right and finger tighten the chain tension screw. As for a clutch kit i would go with the ulmer clutch kit. I don't have one, but I have heard really good things about it.

Never heard of anything like that either. Usually they rip or get torn/punctured, never seen one separate as you are describing. Let me know if you need a track and decide to stay with the stock size. I have a stock track in good condition that I pulled off my sled after one season. It has 96 Stud Boy studs in it already too.

I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow. Motoman where are you located in Mi. ? I am around the Kalamazoo area. How much would you want? We don't use studs but could pull them. He really wants to go to 136" but I can't afford that right now. We got the sled by trading, I couldn't afford to buy him one. I broke my spine in 2 places about 1 1/2 yrs. ago and was out of work for over the 6 month period which put me on long term disability with my company and they told me they no longer had a job for me to go back to. I had worked there for 24 yrs. They (Pfizer) are making cuts all the time so it was just a matter of time any way probably. He (my son) has some money saved up for a clutch kit. The track is basically a 1 ply now in certain places. It is not torn it just seperated the top layer from the bottom layer. It is really quite weird how it seperated. It kind of looks like a re-tread that seperated. Thanks for the replies guys.

i would try a bigger lugged track instead of a 136'' first because the phazer does pretty well in deep snow with just a 121''. also it is cheaper

bush wacker thanks for the suggestion. Cheaper is definitely for me. He is coming off his 2005 polaris RMK 550 trail that was a 136" 1.25, so that it why he's saying he wants a 136". We really haven't even had a chance to ride the Phazer in any deep stuff yet to see how it does. We do like boondocking though in the U.P. so off trail performance is somewhat important. Over at JohnDee.com I just found a brand new takeoff for $200.00 obo, so I'll see what motoman wants for his, as I said cheaper is better right now. But maybe next season we'll look for a deeper lug.

Here goes my attempt at posting the pics of the track.

x2

You guys think Yamaha will take care of the track ? That would be great but I am not the original owner. There are no tears in the track it just seperated, almost like it didn't bond well it's in nice straight lines. I guess it's worth a try.

Bettcha a coke it's due to ice build up in the tunnel rubbing on the track....

At least that was the explanation I was given when mine delamintaed the first season and was replaced via Yamaha Good Will, not even warranty....
