Well i am now on another apex, traded in the 06 last week, and now ride the 07 rtx,i liked the 22 top for alot of tight riding, but still have a need for more speed,so in went the 23 top and a new hyvo chain, lol well have not had the chance to rip it up yet with the new gear. We did go for a wonderful ride out of rumford yesterday with wife and friends, those are some twisty trails out 17e toward rangley, but we turned back to ellis store and than back to better trails, the local loop trails were just awsome,so back to the rtx,i was not to sure i made the right decission at first, but once i cranked up the coil over spring on the front skid shock and backed off most of the compression on the rear shock, plus keep the torsion springs in middle and relax the limiter straps WOW now it rails and rides much much better,ya it still bottoms on the bigger stuff, its not perfect, but i can now slid the rear end thru a corner. I put back on my stock skis w/10 of carbide and tightend my transfer rod so it does not transfer, this is how it now rails,it does dart some, but not bad,so for now i feel it is real rideable for what we have left this year.
Oh ya all most forgot, all the 4 wheels in this skid are shot, and have been, waiting for my dealer to get me the 05 all plastic ones, the two inside ones have no rubber at left, and the two outside ones are square shaped from doing all the work.

Adding the optional anti-bottomers apparently makes a big improvement at stopping it from bottoming out.
I installed them before my first ride and as long as there isn't a huge pile of ice in the tunnel (making the sled ride low - only happens on long rides in extremely cold weather) this thing can handle everything I can throw at it and it never bottoms out.
The rubber bottoming bumpers on the skid even get coated in snow and ice when I'm on the roughest trails and don't get cleaned off.
I have them installed on the softest position. I had them on the medium position before and did notice a little too much kick back unless I cranked up the shock a little. On the soft setting they are perfect for me.

Let me know how your 23 tooth setup does. I put it in mine and although it is faster on ice, I lost top end on hardpack. I liked the 22 tooth gear better. I don't like the ton of slack in that chain with the 23 tooth gear. Seems like a power robbing angle on the tensioner. Maybe the 2-shock skid has more drag? I was thinking of pulling up my limiter one notch to take some pressure off the front rails next. The GT's must just roll better 'cuz they can pull more gear.

As of now i'm really loving the 22 T. Mines staying in, comes out of the hole like a raped ape, don't care much about top end. Doug

69redmach1 did you run your rtx w/the 23 gear, over 1/2 mile on ice? if so what did it top out at,did you break 117 that is my best so far, with any apex/attak i have had,now my old 03 rx1 ran 117 and it would run 115 almost anytime, all gps speeds. Its funny you mention the 23 slowing down on hard pack,i would think it would almost run the same speed as bare ice, maybe your skid is draging you down some, check to make sure your transfer rods are set to there max,and take up the slack in your front coil shock in the skid, this made my front end really light, tomorrow i will try and get to my lake, but it wont be fast, its all tore up from our fishing derby, last weekend, and of course the best strip i had to run down a guy was sitting there in his truck w/a trap right in the middle of our test strip, and he was smiling when i past by him. So i will slacken my torsion springs as soft as they can go,take all my compression out of the rear shock, and lower my floats as low as i can get them, also i will be changing clutching as i go,now i have supertips in,and i will change to dalton than stock,so maybe i will get lucky. The front hole is the soft position and with the shock adjusted for a reasonable amount of damping there isn't any kick back.
I had mine out again today and was very pleased with the ride.
Only one problem - My wife and I swapped sleds 1/2way through and she wouldn't give me the RTX back...
I ended up riding the Venture 700 with both children on board. Now she wants us to buy another 07 RTX and install Seat Jacks on both of them.
