I am going to look at an 08 apex with a buddy tonight. I have an 06 attak so I do know some about yammys. What all do I need to look for on the 08. It has 6000 miles so I assume it will need doughnuts. Is the suspension on an 08 better( dont need beefed up)..I know bout bearings and that bit just wanting to know anything major I should be looking for.

no need for beef up on that year but still look at arms in rear as they could still be cracked depending on how it was used. no majior issues im aware of with the era just the norm. ask about what has been done for pm each year and what has been replaced what up grades shock rebuilds clutching bearings replaced look at the heat exchangers for cracks where the skid ataches to the tunnel. check for cracked rails on skid. not that thease are all common on that sled just what can happen on some. make sure head light pod is attached and not broke from a roll over. look for cracks in exhaust maybe do a tennis ball / rag test to be sure the exhaust is tight.

another question though. First time I have really looked at a 08 or newer suspension. I have to go thru mine on my 06. It has been beefed but noticed a crack again so I welded to keep me on the trail this year. Will the w arm off of a 08 or newer work on a 06 or do I have to look for a specific one for my year.

Myself I missed out on a 2008 Apex LTX (black w/ red flames) that was on CL in my neighboring town about a month ago. It had 894 actual miles, looked like it just came out of the crate and came with a new cover for 5 grand. A smoking deal. I was the second caller right after he posted it. He said a guy tried to give him $6500 but he had already committed to the first caller.

You can use an arm from 06-10.

I bought a 07 Attak GT for $5600 with 800 miles. Saw another one go oin ebay this past month with 300 miles for $5600 as well.

I went with to look sled over for my buddy. Sled looked great. I did not sit on sled. On way home my buddy said the 08 felt different to sit on then my 06. Did they change the seat in 08?...I thought they changed it later...also on 08 is that still regular gas or premium?

I have an 08 the seats are soft I put a mountain seat on an use 87 oct

My 07 has a soft seat my wifes 2010 vector has a firm one.

My seat still feels better than my buddies '08 40 yr Ltx but as mentioned the previous owner took it to an upholstery shop and had 2" of foam added then they added extra material across the bottom of the seat cover. It looks factory and makes it feel more like your sitting on one of the new Vipers, Cats...etc. With the seat and bar riser it makes it easier for me to stand when needed.

get the 2 front skis off the ground and check for wear in a arm bushings if they were not replaced I am sure there going to need replacing. use the bronze bushings. generally just the normal wear items. there are no suprises with these machines.

Yeh I have a load of things I plan on looking at over the summer.

06 had a firm seat 07 and newer went softer you would certianly feel the diff. most prefer the 06 seat sits alittle higher.
