does anyone have idea`s on what to used for a add on rear cooler on these, I bought the sled last feb. and in 3 trips put on 980 miles and every time it would throw on a temp light and make the fan run, local dealer said the snow conditions were to low but I have been riding for 20 years and I know what low snow is.... they are trying to sell me yamaha`s rear cooler kit at a cost of $378.00 and another $177.00 for extra tunnel protectors, does anyone have some part numbers for the coolers and hoses I need and a good place to get them? any help would be great...thanks,Tim

save ur money....dilute the anitfreeze with distilled water to a 60/40 mix and you'll be fine..

pioneer performance much cheaper, cooler $220 i think.
i went thru the same thing, yami jacked the prices up this year.
i agree you may not need cooler, but i am still doing mine, figure it's extra cooling & i like the fact it is supposed to melt down some snow build up in the back. plan to fab my own protectors.

These overheating issues are strange to me. My 06 Attak has only had the overheat light go on once, and that was in snow that was like concrete, after melting and then freezing. As soon as I went off trail, the light went out. The other Attak I ride with overheats after long, high speed running and then when we turn it over, there is usually a large chunk of ice covering the front cooler. I would really look into the antifreeze mix. Good luck!

The rr exchanger is under $200 from Yamaha and is a breeze to install !

not to hijack but has anyone tried running ENGINE ICEinstead of regular antifreeze? we run it in all the race atvs and dirt bikes as well as street bikes. it really works well. def. drops the temps in the dead of summer. just never tried it in a sled. just a thought.

my attak has engine ice...fan never comes on even when im running it on the stand in 70 degree weather!

what sj said, your mix from the factory came too strong. I've run glare ice drags all day and have never seen my temp light come on.

I agree 100% with both these posts. 60/40 mix here and I never had the temp light come on with my 06 Apex I had, or my 08 Apex.my dealer checks them at set up to make sure they are 60/40 if they are not they change them to be 60/40 mix
