Trying to help a buddy get his 08 FX Nytro set up. It is set up the way it came from the dealer now. I rode the sled and it is all over the place. It is so twitchy and unpredictable and so quick. Wow. I have rode many sleds but this thing acted like it wanted to kill me. When coming off throttle it is wicked out of control. How are you getting rid of this type of handling. It has the fox shocks up front, and he weights around 150-160 lbs. Thank you.

Maybe you should try the fishing in another pond.

Mine was the same way. Tried shaving the 2.5 mm off of the ball joints and it helped a little but along with the sh*t hand warmers and other issues I sent it down the road.

......for a quick idea on fixs go read the "Hygear suspension" article regarding this sled. Your descrition is spot on, it can be corrected but will require some wrenching and tweaking.

does anyone really feel the difference in the sled with 2.5mm ball joint mod? I read the original thread on that but it was all over the place. seem like it was inconclusive ..

I noticed a HUGE difference with this mod alone, but combined with all the other front end mods I would put my 08 against any 09 in the handling department.........

What all did you do?
I did the 2.5mm mod
I also shaved .200" off the seat side of my upper A-Arm and added .200" spacer to the front of the upper A-Arm to angle the lower part of the spindle more forword for a more relaxed ride.
So far I put 40 miles on it and it seems to make a BIG different's . But need to get on some hard packed trails to know for sure.

I did the following.......
2.5m off the top
oilite bushings
slydog skis
bergstrum triple points with ski savers
new lower balljoints
3/8" shim back of skis
1/2" to 5/8 " toe out, worked the best out of all different ones I tried
front strap up 3 1/2 holes, back stock and centre spring with only two threads showing
and this year I am putting on Ohlins with 25N/mm springs on the front and Ohlins on the back with 28N/mm spring on the centre
last two weekends last year this set up was fantastic on the trails...
