'08 versus '09 FX Nytro ride results - Handling and Feel

front skid shock

Has anyone loosened the front skid shock to put a little more ski pressure and if so how does that handle. I was thinking about adjusting 1 hole tighter on the front limiter strap but I think I will start with the shock. Any feed back would be appreciated. 09 RTX SE

Here's my recipe: Pull the strap up 2 holes and set the ceter spring at zero preload - just snug enough that the spring won't rattle. This made a huge difference by helping to keep the front end on the snow when you're coming out of a turn and getting the skis to bite.

I'm from the Cites too. Are you heading out this weekend? I'm planning to head out to the UP on Saturday.

Personally I was surprised they gave the RTX SE the updated front end. I would assume those guys would have wanted the 08 geometry to match that sleds intended purpose.

catman - what model of 09 nytro did you get to ride? I could see the push from the XTX, but if it was a shorty, than the setup woes start all over again. too bad.

It was a standard FX Nytro. Like I said before, I'm by no means slamming the '09, but the difference in steering is dramatic. That's all.

The 09's cant be that numb, this front geometry comes from the race sled!!

Ride the two back to back, and get back to me. Like before, I'm NOT slamming the '09s, it's just that dramatic of a difference.
