I honestly don't know if I should love you or hate you right now.
My riding is very much like yours, area and off trailing.
I had talked myself out of my snow checked RTX that I was to pick up today. It was an indulgence I had grown uncomfortable with and with the wife just back to school for four years and me trying to hold down the fort, the money that went into the sled would be handy elsewhere.
I told myself when I ordered it I wouldn't take it unless I lost the 40 lbs I had put on. I have put on 25 more so to punish my glutonous self was another reason not to get it.
Yesterday I told the banker that I wouldn't need the small loan to pay off the balance of the sled and I told her why. She told me I was nuts, to go get it since my net worth is high for my age on paper.
I told my wife that I wouldn't be getting it. She told me to get the thing even though she doesn't understand it at all she knows I live for it and it is all I have talked about since April. She didn't want to hear me moaning and crying when the snow gets down.
Despite all this, I had told the dealer and was going out this morning to pick up my cheque for all the money I had down on it.
:ORC
Then I came on here just before I left and saw this thread, the cross post on HCS and the god damn pictures. The pictures of that sled tearing through that drift, of it in the snow, of the riders on it and the report of how great the damn thing rides was my undoing. In the space of one thread the only rational financially sound decision I had ever made went out the window. 3 hours later the sled is sitting in my garage begging me not to start it until there is snow down.
Thanks a freakin' lot.
No really, thanks.
So anyways, the 40 lbs to lose is now 65. It isn't a big deal (I have lost 100 in under 5 months before (put it back on)) but I better get started.
:exc:
bagadonitz, that has got to be one of THE FUNNIEST stories I have ever heard ! LOL !!!! Seriously, when reading your post, I didn't think you were gonna end up with the sled, especially not at home 3 hours after reading my post and deciding you weren't going to take it, but I'm glad I could help.

Tell ya what, I'll buy ya a drink to make up for it ! Cheers

I live on the other side of the island and have never been to Lewis Hills. I hope to get there this year for sure.
I had to put the cover on the sled as I keep wanting to start it up.

I moved to Calgary when I was 22. At 32, I just moved back here last summer and this past winter was my first on a sled in about 14 years. I quickly grew tired of the POS Arctic Cat Powder Special and traded up to the RTX this spring.
I go now with a group of five guys and I expect we'll be making a few trips west this year when our very short season is done around St. John's.
As far as going to the hills, its probably just as long for me as it is for you or pretty close to it. It's long drive from here, particullary in the winter.

Did you get your moose though?
Glad you enjoyed it here. I was drawn back myself after many years away.

It's WELL worth the ride to go to the LewisHills, no matter what time of year !

Ya we got our moose, 6 of us went and we came back with 6 moose. We had a great time hunting with North Creek Outfitters. One in our group has been going every other year since 1968. I hope to go back some day. The ferry ride was neat, but long. Riverrat...............

I hate those ferrys. They are outdated and wore out in my opinion.
Congrats on the moose. The group I was with last week had three licenses to fill and we got only one.
