Probably easier to notch the paddles than it is to remove the protctors. I have done this on several cats to clear the full length coolers, its no big deal.

Notching the track takes <45 min with a sharp utility knife. It does take some 'life' out of the track as dependent on track design it may cause some of the cut lugs to be able to be ripped off easier.

I'm putting a 1.5 Intense track on my RTX before too long, and by the looks of things, those tunnel protectors are tacked on pretty good. I was hoping they would only be riveted on...I take it there's not a full length of them under the rest of the tunnel too ?!?
Any idea how you are going to get around this. It looks like you could gring the welds and remove the protectors, but will this put the exchanger in any danger?
I really don't want to have to buy new drivers and I won't be happy with the stock track...

Stock, its meant to go in the bag where the owners manual was in the nose of the sled. But you could purchase a belt clip holder and rivet it onto your clutch/belt cover on the left side of the seld.

Do you think though that wrapped up like that in the nose when it gets cold will be a problem if you have to use it? I mean I know eventually it will go back into shape but for the first little bit won't it be seated wrong if it is frozen?

Look in the 08 Yamaha accessories catalog on the top of pg 13, it has a pic of the belt in the bag. My dealer included a spare belt with My Nytro and told me it was in the bag in the nose of the sled. I thought like you 'it fits in the bag"...then I looked at it and it fits great. There is plenty of room left for the tool kit and more stuff. I think its a perfect place for the spare belt. The only problem I have is I still have a spare for My apex and after 4300 miles My belt still looks like brand new!! Maybe the best place to keep the "spare" belt is home with the 2 stroke oil!NyTrOMaNIaC said:SilentSno said:NyTrOMaNIaC said:Might be another already touched on topic, but does anyone know where the spare belt goes ?
