Well, here's the thing. Supposedly the new Nytro is 50 lbs? lighter. That definitely would make me very interested, even moreso than the REV (don't trust them). So hates off - that is great, and I might have a used 2008-9 in 2-3 years. So that pleases me quite a bit.
The rest of the lineup, quite frankly, is a joke. A 10 lb gain? Another k or 2 price increase? No hp increase on the Apex? Terrible.
Published weights had better be impressive for the FXNytro and the 2009 Apex revamp had better be amazing, otherwise, I hope Yamaha is happy with #2.

I realize the snowmobiler population is always desiring bigger and better things. However, as a current '06 Attak owner, I couldn't be more happy with the product Yamaha put out. Does a manufacturer always have to change things yearly? Maybe, maybe not. It's my belief they have an excellent product in the current Apex models.
Yes, the price increase might be a bit high, but again, just scroll up and see my comment about prices. Rarely will you pay MSRP. Just wait until there's no snow again and watch the prices fall.

Not saying they have to change everything yearly, I know that is not economically feasible. Nor am I saying that they didn't do anything - I am really impressed with the Nytro and will probably own one at some point.
But for the Apexes to actually gain weight and cost more? Not impressed at all.
Yeah, I know you won't pay full MSRP unless you are insane. But this hobby is getting pretty pricey for something you can only do a few times a year - well, unless you are lucky enough to have a well-paying job up North, or want to spend a massive amount of time and $$ on trailering, anyway.

I am not really sure how these sled companies work as a whole. Someone school me on Yamaha...but are they on a three year cycle or a four year cycle(or no set cycle). Doesnt Arctic Cat change/revamp/overhaul their lineup every 4 yrs? AC carried the Firecat from 03-06(with only slight changes) and then came out with the new F-series. Wouldnt that put Yamaha in line for a new product launch for 2009(not 2008) since the Apex came out for 2006? When did the RX-1 get introduced?
Actually...I was thinking the 2008 Yamaha models wouldnt be much different than they are. I was just always under the assumption sled manufacturers only made BIG changes every 3-4 years because of R&D.

FX Nytro was claimed to be 50 lbs lighter than the old Nytro.
