I bent my front left a-arms ('07 red) and looking to replace them. Was offered a complete set (L and R) supposedly from a '08 Mtn Apex. The whole set including spindles is silver color. How do I know if the guy is trying to pawn off a set of RX 1 a-arms? Did the Mtn Apex come with silver a-arms and spindles in '08?

Check the part number. I believe the red '07' SEs which is what I have used red arms and black spindles and I believe the '08's did too while the blue sleds used silver spindles and blue or silver a-arms. You will want to check the part number though. I bought a set of spindles off of ebay for my '03 RX-1 Mtn. and it turned out they were for a trail sled because the camber was way wrong. Have them send you the measurements of the A-arms.

08 SE's used black spindles and black arms, I just looked at the set I have in my garage. And the photo on Yamaha's site. 07(not SE) used blue and silver. Also have this in my garage.

I have a sled identical as Sledneck22. Bought brand new as leftover last week of March 2010. Use sled for trail and Flatland riding and found it tippy so I bought set of Shorty a-arms. Mtx shocks were too short so had to buy shorty front shocks. Then couldn't align camber of skis cause spindles on mtx different than Shorty spindles. So had to go out and buy Shorty spindles. Also had to buy Shorty tierods cause mtx were too short after widening frontend. Had I known all that, would have left well enough, but it costs money to go to school.
Back to topic.....yes 08 mtx had silver frontend as my bench now has all the parts to prove it.
