Stock hifax need to be broke-in properly. Get them hot then cool them down, repeat this several times over the first couple of rides and it should help with the wear issues (just don't stop once the hifax are hot or you'll melt the clips into them).
I've had the Hyperfax on since new and I can't even see that they've worn any at all and I don't have scratchers yet. They're expensive but worth it in my opinion.

Got 3200 KM on first set of hyfax, 400 KM on second set, due to lack of fresh going up revy in Dec. ( Too much rain ). 600 on third set, no sign of fatigue. 
Removed wheels for good at 1200 KM. MTN, TRAIL, ETC..
