Just bought 08 nitro fx and took the rear skid out to check it over. Just wondering how many guys put the heavier rear springs in? It would be nice to put them in now since I have it apart. [/code]

if ur over 200 lbs i would. im not but still want to swap cuz i like to jump a lot. Maybee next year when i get my shocks redone.......

I would ride it first, it's easy enough to take out the back two bolts and swing the rear of the skid down and swap the springs without taking it all the way out. It's all personal opinion, I go about 240 with gear and still run the stock springs, but my rtx is set up for trail riding not jumping and ditch banging. Ride it a little and be honest about your personal needs then make a decision.

U should be fine, I'm 6' 3" 230 in street clothes and I jump and pound the #*$&@ out of my 08. I don't bottom much at all and the heaver springs u go the worse ur rides going to be. Get them revavled for your weight instead

I am 165 with no gear and had to move the settings on my 08 RTX to soft cause on medium it was pounding the crap out of me.....and that is riding the sled hard

I don't know what you weigh but when I first got mine I thought the springs were too soft. I installed stiffer springs and then eventually discovered that valving my shocks stiffer was the real cure.

With gear on around 210 lbs. Im going to get the shocks rebuilt. I wasn't going to change the valving. Maybe some heavier oil.

The stock '08 standard Nytro valving is too soft for aggressive riding through the bumps with your weight. The stock springs will work fine if you have both your rear and center shocks revalved for your weight and riding style. I'd send them to Carver Performance because I know from experience they do a great job and have proven set ups.

Once you ride with shocks revalved for your weight and riding style you'll wonder why you put up with generic factory settings.
