1600 miles new belt washed it and put it on after it dried the fins in the belt sat a little above the secondary sheave. I took it out around the yard and was pretty heavy on the throttle. I went to go load it in the trailer and was being very easy on the gas and it smoked right up. I order and alignment tool and a new belt. Anybody else have any ideas

Have you cleaned both clutches and removed any left over belt crap on both clutch faces? I take mine apart and clean them carefully. Alot of guys actually pull them off and run them in a dishwasher. I got 2500 miles out of my last belt , but it stretched to much and is now only an emergency backup. Another good idea is to blow them out during the season (riding) with compressed air to get the belt dust out of the clutches.

There does seem to be a lot of rubber and other junk on the bottom of the primary like where it would ride when it jay starts to engage. I can almost pick it off with my fingernail. Could this be the issue.? I will sand the sheaves

It sounds like you glazed it. Your supposed to be easy on a new belt for the first 50 miles to break it in first. Don't change it and go load it up heavy on the throttle.

My 09 Rtx used to smoke the belt when trying to be easy on the throttle when loading, don't be nice to it, drive it right up there..
