I need to replace the track on the Nytro FX I picked up this spring. Mainly will be used for trail riding about 90% of the time, would like to go through deeper snow on occasion just to make it to the trail and would like to stud with double backer studs. What track is recommended for this sled?

With it being an 08 and needing to replace the track, may want to look into the Star Suspension 121" to 128" kit that repositions the stock suspension; hence the need for a 128" track. The 08 had a horrible attack angle and this kit was probably one of the best things I did to my 08 Nytro, handling wise; even better than the steering relocate kit. As for the 128" track I used, I ended up going with a Ripsaw 1.25". It's hard to justify the kit when your current track is still in good shape but since you are needing to replace yours, just some food for thought.

How did it effect handling? was it reduced steering effort also? Did it change the attack angle to be more like an XTX?With it being an 08 and needing to replace the track, may want to look into the Star Suspension 121" to 128" kit that repositions the stock suspension; hence the need for a 128" track. Although the OFT steering relocate kit helped with the steering effort in that it felt you were no longer swooping the handle bars (OEM steering motion felt more up/down than left/right), relocating the suspension and changing the attack angle just improved the steering effort requiring even less, the skis tracked better and it practically eliminated the ski lift. Now, I didn't think the 08 Nytro was as bad as some stated it was in regards to handling where if felt erractic at higher speeds since this was primarily my son's sled but was also my backup too. Since all of my other sleds are longer than a 121", I just thought it being a little loose/feeling squirrelly was contributed to the shorter length. However, it wasn't until we stayed in Curtis in a cabin on the lake and the boys were out riding that I noticed how much the front of the Nytro was just plowing thru pushing the standing snow on the lake. Although my stock track was still in great shape, I was able to sell it to offset the cost of the 128". Although you don't get increase suspension travel with the 128" track, the additional length is just needed to move the suspension further back in the tunnel. How did it effect handling? was it reduced steering effort also? As for the attack angle being similar to an XTX, I'm not sure. I know they changed a lot from the first year (08) FX Nytro.

If replacing the track I'd definitely go longer. Tracks USA have rail and tunnel extensions available. A 4" rail extension with a 128" track doesn't require a tunnel extension but 136" or longer would. I believe that all the 121" Nytro's had the same approach angle. The tunnel was updated in 09 but if I remember right the approach angle remained the same that's why Star came out with a second kit for the tunnel update. The relocate kits are no longer available but I do have the 08 templets to make the needed plates.
I relocated my 2008 Nytro skid and installed a 128" track then later added 4" rail extensions and swapped the 128" out for a 136" Ice Attack XT track. I wasn't sure about the 136" length at first but now would never go back to a shorty and the pre-studded Ice Attack has been a great track.
