I know this subject has been brought up a million times, but today I was looking into the noise issue alittle more, didnt really come up with anything, but did notice that if u grab primary clutch you can rotate it back and forth a slight amount, I thought my clutch was loose on the crank, but then I put a wrench on clutch bolt and then i couldnt move clutch, I guess there is just some free play in the rods or something?

Try starting it without the sidepanel on... WOW! Say hello to the first diesel-snowmobile!!!

It's nuts! And then try it with the sidepanel on... ;)!

Mine has got a good amount of slop in the outer shieve also. It seems like they have put the regular sliders in again, instead of the '05 updated ones (with the o-ring behind them). My updated '05 had no (or VERY little) slop in it after the update... Who knows. I'm just going to ride this thing, it doesen't really bother me, I've got 2-years full warranty! ;)!

rough rider, There appears to be splines on the end of the crank then into a bearing carrier that the clutch goes on. The free play is probably the spines. Look up your engine on the parts break down and you will see.
